Wsup everyone. I ordered some turntables and they are on their way right now. Here's the thing I'm not sure which records i should start out with. I will be buying some hip hop records for sure just to practice with beats. What are some good starter trance records??? I wanna buy something new too though. I was thinking get Solid Globe - North Pole, Motorcycle - ATRC, i want Marco V - Godd, and some other ones. Now i'm not gonna go and buy $500 bucks worth of records cause i don't have that kinda money right now. Still though any advice would be appreciate. Thanks all. Lates.

First off, have you ever DJ'd before??
Second off, pick a type of muzik you will want alot of on vinyl, cuz once you get into one genre you might aswell stick with that cuz it is NOT cheap...
Third off, do you know how to beatmatch?

Personally I spin Trance, and Hard House, but that is all I listen to aswell. If I were you, I would choose a genre of records that you love, personally I think trance is one of the easier genres to beatmatch and mix, but that is personal preferance for all DJ's.
Max13UT
I've never DJ'ed Before.
I wanna spin trance/hard-trance
Do not know how to beatmatch but have an idea. matching up the beats so one song flows into the other(?) :)
Prodigy Child
If I was you I'd start spinning Hard-Trance, you say you like it, and its doesn't have as many breakdowns as oridinary trance, so you have more beats to match to, instead of waiting until after the breakdown, you said you wanna get Marco V - Godd, thats not a bad track to start of with, just try and get some more tracks along those lines and you should be set, but like DJ Lazy said, try and stick with one genre, cos it doesn't get very expensive, and as for beatmatching, if you find you love the music and wanna match beats, you WILL get the hang of it, it just takes time, so what tables are you getting?.
Max13UT
cool thx for the info.
as for the tables i'm gettin the cheapest i could find, they are just starter tables. Gemini XL120 Turntables & PMX250 Mixer.
I thought its ok to start out with and if i need to move up i'll just get a good mixer.

Don't you mean "cos it DOES get very expensive"....?? :haha: :haha: :haha:

And you say your getting the Gemini XL120's??? :nervous: :nervous:
Man Belt Drive turntables are gonna be a BITCH to learn how to beatmatch on... you should have ATLEAST gone with direct drive, so even if you dont like DJing you can get SOME TYPE of resale cost on them.. cuz belt-drive tables will be a pain in the ass to sell as second hand... Your better off using them as a coasters for beer..

Good Luck with them man.. I wish you the best tho.

Yea, you prolly will be better, however it is prolly gonna take alot longer to learn how to beatmatch, and ALOT more frustrating, which may cause you to not enjoy learning how to DJ... It is a great hobby/job for those of us that do it, so just stick with it if you do like it but are frustrated.. Cuz it takes time and alot of practise.;)

Well I gotta say, trying to mix using the XL-120 IS GONNA be a bitch, but if you can do it on those everything else will be a breeze, but like Lazy said, its gonna take alot longer and be a hell of a lot more frustrating, but even if you had Techs at first when you learn it gets frustrating, but with the XL-120 thats gonna last alot longer, but I learned on second hand belt-drive Soundlab decks, some of the worst decks EVER and it took me about a year, but I was kinda on and off cos I got so mad, those decks got a good thumping alot, but when I had it down and then hit the Techs, honestly mixing was easier than breathing, so I hope the same happens to you and you get good, but with these decks give it ALOT of time to get the hang of it, and even when you do have it down, over like 45 seconds the beats WILL drift, not cos there not matched but because the decks can't hold the pitch well at all, so stick with it and when you think your ready get some killer decks, good luck, and keep us updated.
Max13UT
well it looks like i got a lot of learning to do. thanks for the encouragin words and the "warnings". When i get frustrated with anything I say " it" but then i come back to it in a coupla days, so frustration shouldn't be that much of a problem. i'm toooooo excited. btw I kinda put together my first Mix-list. basically the tracks that i wanna get first. tell me what you think.
1 Cupa - Blaze(?)
2 Ayion - Thru The Night(Solid Side Remix)
3 Ayumi H. - M(Above & Beyond Instrumental Mix) (?)
4 Benny Benassi - Love is gonna save us
5 Envio - Touched By the Sun(Rusch & Elusive Remix)
6 GTR - Psiclone(?)
7 Iio - Smooth(Airbase Remix)(?)
8 Marco V - Godd(Original Mix)
9 Nu-NRG - Butterfly
10 Lost Tribe - Gamemaster(Oakey Remix)
11 PVD vs Second Sun - Crush(vandit dub)
12 Reloop - ing Society
13 Warrior - X
14 Solid Globe - North Pole

now the ones with the (?) means I couldn't find them on any online vinyl shops and I kinda don't know whether those are gonna be realeased???? anyone know???? The songs aren't in any particular order yet, I will arrange them later cause I know being a DJ I need to create somewhat of a "flow" or a "vibe". So that's it for now. once again thanks for all your help everyone, I appreciate it.

congrats on taking up djing. looks like you have some good tunes there. my advise for buying records would be to obviously buy records that you really like, but also not to get sucked into buying records just because other people think that they are huge. i'm not saying that your doing this now.... don't get me wrong. and i would say if you like a song alot and its abit different than your other records buy it anyways. its good to have alittle bit of everything in your collection. ya never know when it might come in handy.

is pvd/ second sun - crush released yet? am i living under a rock?

hey thx. i think it is, i'm not totally sure though. i know some of those tunes have not bene released yet. man i was at a party tonight, and it was at my romanian friends, i was dj'ing through his laptop and omg it's hard to please a foreign crowd, i just had them come up one by one and pick their romanian tunes. but i did manage to slip a good amount of trance in there and most of them were grooving to it. but there was like 50 people and i really appreciated that most people danced it was a blast. :)
