| But isnt it strange that you had to replace the battery twice for a total of $100 for a product relatively new like the IPOD. Obviously youll keep having to replace this battery and it just isnt worth it in the long run. |

NO! I have had it for 3 years and use it for 3-4 hours a day. Just like a cell phone battery, if you use it they die and there not cheap. I think the video is built on false pretenses.

| I recently bought a 15 gig Dell Digital Jukebox (for $199 :D ) knowing full well that it used the same type of battery as an iPOD (Lithium Ion) and so would eventually be subject to replacement. However, I don't see why people are so turned off by this fact that they will not buy internal battery mp3 players. For example, many cell phones use the same li-ion battery, but people still buy them. And when's the last time you saw a cell phone that operated on AA batteries? |

Personally, I think there's 2 sides to this equation.
#1 - it was sort of Shady on Apple's part to not offer the $99 replacement program from the introduction of iPod... but I see this as a safeguard on their part that if they let people know right away the battery will need periodic replacement, people will not buy their product. Shady but profitable move on their part.
#2 - You guys are correct about the cell phone point, where they also use Li-Ion batteries and need replacement every so often...however they have become much cheaper over the course of the decade going as low as $10 for some models and that is not a lot of money to replace a battery every year or so compared to $100 on your iPod. |

| You could always opt to buy one of those protection plans from Best Buy, CompUSA and the likes in the states. |

The iPod DOES NOT use a lithium ion battery. It uses a polymer battery design in which the entire case is molded out of a polymer that has the properties of a rechargeable battery. It is why it is more expensive than the Zen and other players...they use a less expensive battery technology.
