I went snowboarding for the first time...it was hell for my first 2 tries and I thought it was the stupidest sport. then the 3rd try i started getting it after i kinda learned how to carve and realized how fun it is!
i was soo tired though after the 3rd but i wanted to do it again..and now here i am back from the trip and there is not a place in body that isn't sore.
anybody here is good at this sport and is willing to give a few tips and their experiences? |

its about rocking back and forth not turning the heel. You want to carve. Its like when you lift a shopping cart on its side it will start drifting in a direction. Your goal is to affect the same thing. Also get onto faster harder tracks. I was on a black diamond my third run because my friends were all good and didnt want to coddle me. I learned fast. Neccessity precipitates change as they say.
its all about weight shifts, other than that itll take you about 5 trips to feel comfortable on the slopes. Ive been doing it for 9 years now, and my first run always sucks too , so go often!
best advice is : dont be a . |

I want to try snowboarding out...Someday.
I'm pretty good at ice skating. Never tried skiing. |

just wondering...
what kind of snow would you snowboard on... really powdery snow or icy snow?
I tend to prefer icy snow for some reason except bailing out on that hurts like hell... Powdery snow tends to slow me down and screw up my carving and stuff |

That's because you dont know how to ride it.
You need a length board and to lean back, then you just float on it. |

| My first day consisted of me throwing myself down the mountain and generally going either sideways or on my arse. I didn't enjoy it much but by the second day i was doing turns and stuff. On day four I went off pieste the first time and loved it. Am still crap though, hope to get better this year. :) |

I love snowboarding! Can't wait for the next opportunity to do it again! :) :D :p
The fist time I snowboarded I spent quality time on my ass. :p I ripped my back muscles, ended up giving up and used my board as a sled :D Good times. :p By the second day though, I was doing 180's :) |
