12.13.03 : JAMES HOLDEN & Guy Ornadel @ Glow (pg. 3)

Techno, like nearly all original forms of EDM (the "parent" genre's, so to speak) originated in the US.
Yet also like most of them, it has been embraced by overseas countries, and pushed into the shadow in it's country of origin.
Sad, really...

a few hours after making this post, i convinced my roommate to go with me. had so much fun! there was practically no one there, but i was really nice to hear something different. we were the blond and the brunette laughing at everything because we found so much random stuff very, very funny.

one of the funnier points: we didn't know what either dj looked like, but we decided that holden (we did figure them out eventually) looks like someone's little brother that's always smoking you up. we talked to him for a bit, then went back out on the dance floor where someone told my roommate that that james holden was spinning right then. she runs back to the back and starts going on about how he not james holden and demands to see his passport! he didn't have it but showed credit cards instead and seemed to be pretty amused.

erin, good to see you last night babe ;) i'm glad i left earlier, because when i walked outside at 3:15, there was SNOW everywhere and i had two drives two hours back to school. did anyone else go?

I'm really pissed that I didn't. :( It's always a great night at Glow when there's an amazing DJ spinning and it's NOT packed shoulder to shoulder!

You must have had a blast!

from the glow forum...

wow! i was very surprised at how awesome this night turned out to be...but i'm such an idiot and forgot ornadel was playing too so i guess i missed some of holdens set

but what i did hear was really good! i loved that funky breaks mix of nothing, as well as ride, but otherwise i couldnt ID too much else. holden should have gotten a better crowd at the beginning, i was happy to see him get the crowd he deserved as the night went on.

guy ornadel-- okkkk!!!!! he was doin his thang last night! he started out a little more proggy and then went to some uplifting stuff and then busted out with some crazy techno- but somehow it all flowed perfectly.

some songs i remember guy playing:

FLAMING JUNE!!
hello (g&d)
as the rush comes (above and beyond)
second sun- CRUSH!!
beautiful things (photon project)

ENCORE: marco v- c:mp3.///////// whatever it is!!

much love to liz and Dave (my partners in crime ), joel and ally, beema, jane and emily, brian, dave, and donnie (you guys rock!), sammy, and rob my dancing partner (not even sure if you're on the forum!)

much hate to the scary rapist man who would not stop touching me, liz, jane, or emily....YUCKY!!!

all in all, any night with good music, good company, and ROOM TO DANCE keeps me happy!

SEE YA'LL AT FERRY!!!!!

It was a looooooong ass trip and such a pain in my ass but to tell you all the truth it was sooo worth it!!! Picked up my friend Donnie at his moms house in College Park, MD and chilled for a bit. Then went to the dungpow party for a bit.....picked up Addictedto1982 then headed to Glow. As always, Glows staff had their heads up their asses and the free passes didnt work (never seems to amaze me):whip: Got inside Glow around 12:30 and caught the last bit of Holdens set. I enjoyed his set but he seemed to be off point (if you will) but it was prob due to the fact that he was really sick and souldnt have been spinning anyways. Even so he was still having a good time....smiling and whatever. Then Guy came on @ 1:30......THIS GUY IS DA !!! Beema man.....that sucks you had to leave early and miss out!!! Moment of the night........standidng there talking to Addictedto1982, and Sammy...........me- "You guys know what i wanna hear?" sammy- "whats that man?" me-"Loops and Things!!! Next thing you know.......Guy dropped it!!!! I ing love that track live!!!   What a great night.......shout outs to Donnie (you need join the board bro) Jose, Erin, Liz (hope you guys make it home alright!!!)
