I'm about to apply for Griffith University, Brisbane...

Is it a nice place? I can chose pretty much wherever I want in all of Australia, I was also thinking about QUT right outside of Brisbane OR Sydney... It's probably 100 times better than studying in Norway :)

Anyways, I still have 20 more hours before I HAVE TO send the application forms. Hoping for some nice thoughts :p

Come to Melbourne, much better weather :p

Hey dude,

Don't know anything about Brisbane unis/living except that it's real hot.

Come to Melb. For computers -> Swinburne, Monash, RMIT.
For medicine, law -> Monash, Melbourne

That's about as much help as I can give.

Mabie someone from Sydney can help u out more.
Chookie
Depends on what you like to do etc.

Sydney is better than QLD when it comes to the scene and so it Melbourne.

If you are going to Brisbane I'd say QUT.

lol :)

I'll be studying Information Systems, I hope it'll turn out okay..
Doesn't matter if it's hot, that's good. I grew up in the ing winter, this will be such a change, it's going to be fantastic.

What about prices? Is the east Sydney+Brisbane more expensive than Perth? That's what I hear, but then again, everyone's got an opinion.

I think I should buy a Lonely Planet Australia or something :)

Queensland will be a lot warmer than Melbourne (Melbourne is famous for it's random weather). Sydney, hmm, that should be fairly warm, but not ot the extent of Brisbane.

But yeah, pick up a Lonley Planet guide to Aus or something like that if you're keen :p

Most of the unis are all very good in Oz, so it's really more a choice of where you want to live.

Melbourne people will always tell you to go to Melbourne. It's really up to you where you want to go, if you're really interested in the beach culture etc, then Sydney or Brisbane are far better. As for the trance scene, Sydney and Melbourne are both pretty healthy, Melbourne does tend to have larger events, but larger isn't necessarily better :)

Brisbanes not so bad, you have the Gold Coast just 45 mins drive away.
Nice hot weather with huge storms in the afternoons.
Living here is much much cheaper than Melbourne and Sydney.
If you get sick of the weather there is a couple of towns which get occasional winter snowfalls just 5 hours away.

If you go clubbing by all means stay away from the city. Go to what everyone calls "The Valley"

Armin will be in town for a 6 hour set in late Jan @ Family nightclub. If your here by then be sure not to miss it.

Enjoy your stay
:)

sorry for the tangent, but isn't Armin only playin 6 hours in melb?

and if i were comin to australia for school, i wouldn't go to brisbane - mainly cos i'd prefer sumwhere more central - cos it's easier to go visit other places when ur livin sumwhere central.....if ur in brisbane, it's gonna be a pain in the ass if u wanna go other places for the weekend or whatever..........so, for centrality, sydney gets my vote......and, from what i hear, if ur fairly into the 'scene', brisbane isn't a great place to be.......

Nope 6 hrs in Brisbane...and you thought you were getting special treatment didn't ya? :stongue:

If you're young and want to party hard and don't mind all the hustle and bustle of the rat race then go for Sydney. Heaps more to do down there and the weather is better then Melbourne.
