OMG RACH, BABY YOU ARE SOOO RIGHHTTT ONNN!!!:D :D :D

I totally agree with you on everything!!! Couldnt've said it better myself.

I love music, and I mean GOOD MUSIK and I cannot imagine my days without it. The only thing I hate it when you meet someone and you really like them and you try to get them to like whatever music you're listening to and they just look at you like "OMG are you gonna get out those glowsticks now???" - I feel sorry for people who don't understand this musik.

If they don't associate drugs or massive raves with it they bash it for its "repetitive" sounds - OH BLOW ME WILL YA???   - You have to have a keen ear and appreciation for sound to understand dance/trance/techno/house/proggy/etc etc... YOU JUST HAVE TO! :whip:

You also have to be an open minded person... lets say you hear a track and there's something in it you dont like but it might be something new you haven't heard before so you play again and again and all of a sudden its your fave track!!! Its just how it is.

With this musik you discover new sounds, new nuances of melody...you discover yourself! Atleast I have...:)

I love trance and all its sisters and brothers and I WONT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY! AMEN TO THAT...:whip: :whip: :whip:

Love you all,
Katie

OMG, my eyes!!!! the colors!!!! :p

EDM will always be there for me...I started listening to it in some form or another when I was 5-6 years old in my grandfather's record shop and I will listen to it until 1 of 2 things happen...I Die or I go deaf and even then I can still watch the videos :D
Scottaculous
EDM changed my life. Literally. One day I was pencil pushing up the corporate ladder. Now I'm doing it in style with double 15" woofers. :toocool:

In all seriousness though. It really has. :gsmile:

my favorite response is "it all sounds the same" its unbelievable how many times a week i hear that...

I hear the it's all the same comment alot too when i play it at my work and when i sit and start breaking down the different genre's of EDM i just get the blank stare and then it clicks in my mimd that most peoples exposure is prodigy, chemical brothers, fatboy slim, crystal method and maybe a few poor sould have been subjected to Paul"the trainwreck" Oakenfold.....All well and good at least the sound is out there and as much as i like it staying underground i understand the need for artists to make there money while they can...like say Bt and his new pop gonna work with N'Sync stuff...not my cup of tea but at least he is pushing his music one way or another. The scene needs the exposure and it has become more and more evident as labels such as Hooj have to go under into a kind of regrouping stage although thank god they kept the lost language label going.....I'm not ahuge trance fan but the songs released are of high quality. As for me Dirty prog. house.....ambient D'N'b and nu skool breaks such as nu breed, blim, ils and Hybrid where it's intelligently done and not that sloppy florida breaks that most have been subjected to.And too finish my rant it's the music and the people that craete the night not the chemical garbage one is popping into their system which as we in orlando know can help kill a scene.

"Underground will live forever baby,we're just like roaches! always living, never Die!"

Yeah, when someone says it all sounds the same its almost like they're saying "I don't understand music, I just listen to whatever". If you ask me a whole lot of these no-name alternative bands coming out these days sound "the same", but thats another rant.
As for dissing Paul Oakenfold, if you dont like him thats one thing, but he is solely responsible for getting me into this scene and I think that is worth something.
Essential Mix World Tour OWNS!!!! YEEEEEEAH!
ok, nuff caffeine for me :toothless
Shook1
I seriously agree!

Come on.... what other music do u know has producers that come together to make music regardless of record company influence / politics for the good of the scene? Then u got 50 Cent & Ja Rule beefing over some wack sh!t that nobody knows or cares about ! EDM is strictly about the music and not about girls and $$. Its about fun, dancing , and coming together.

Producers in the dance scene will encourage others as well as support their fellow DJs/Producer through their DJ sets, remixes, interviews, etc. and its all love. Thats what makes it sooo much better than the rest. Lets just hope the scene will evolve and be better than ever in the future !!!
SlackerBoy9
well said and i hope that these djs/producers do keep working together to progress the scene and possibly in the future some more high end u.s. producers/djs will come on strong and make the states a bit more stronger in the edm community. As for my slam on Oakenfold...i used to be a big fan...the global undergrounds he did made me such a fan of his and then after seeing him a few times i just kinda lost respect of his skills ...but having said that...what does make him good to see is his song selection and song selection is key.Right now my fave dj's to see are probably Sander Kleinenberg,Quivver,Hybrid,Nick Warren and Steve Lawler.

Great thread!

You guys pretty much said it all. I walk around campus in my Vandit Hoodie and checking peoples eyes when they read whats on it. A couple times ive seen people do double-takes with their eyes.

You can tell the people who knows what it means and other times people have no clue. Those people who know what it means i want them to come out and say something, but so far no luck :(

Oh well

Music is life and my life is music :D
