that is true to a large extent. hence the producers pioneer their own list of sounds to make their tracks distinct. |

To be more specific, its just one portion of the main melody that is similar to Crush...if you have the Adrenaline Rush hour mix by PvD, listen between 16:15 and 16:55.... this buildup melody has almost the exact same chords as Crush!
Scott, I'm glad you hear it! I know I wasn't losing my aural abilities! |
no way!! it sounds not so alike. crush melodie its so much better than this :p |

there is no second sun remix of crush that was played at roxy! i knew i couldn't have missed it. and since this melody just does not strike me as the same, i didn't.
let's leave Mr. Gargano alone, he does not have anything to do with crush.
second sun don't need to remix crush, their original was great... i dont think pvd should have used his version for his own album. :eyes: |

My point has nothing to do with which one is better, thats up to the listener, but there is a similarity b/w this portion of the melody..thats all...why else would people think that there was a mix of Crush being played by PvD? |

exactly, it sounds immensely similar, you could easily drop an acapella of crush over this (if it existed) around 4 min 58. if you cant recognise this theres nay hope for ya. |

anyone can "recognize" the similarity.
my point is that its just not the same. somebody can probably give you the musical notes without thinking and prove teh melody, although it might sound the same, is in actuality quite different. its easy to hear similarities like this, it takes a better listening to understand why they are NOT the same.
and to me since the first time i heard arcana, its just not Crush and doesnt have anything to do with it. |

Of course after listening to it actively, rather than passively, (as was the case when I heard Arcana Live at Roxy) there are major differences..but just that one stretch of the melody...I'm sure Pablo Gargano didn't intend on it, but its just amazing that there are endless amounts of melodies to create, yet, two artists (or groups) were able to come up with something quite similar...thats what was interesting to me... |

happens a lot in trance, to quote a different perspective from YaleTrance:
I guess they're just a trivial product of the formulaic trance-making process. There is no such thing as an 'original' melody in the 21st century
fact is, a trance melody just cannot have endless possibilities because of the structure of the music and how it builds. this is of course because this music is based on repetition, thus there are so many different styles of melodies, and as soon as they overlap, you get such coincidences. its not like rock music or classical music in that once it reaches a point, the music will build and progress but it won't take a different direction. a certain pattern becomes the core of the track and everything else works around and towards it. |
