Books are ALWAYS a different (and better) story (nothing beats your own imagination!), but at least this trilogy does more justice to the books than most other movies based on books usually do. And Aragorn is pretty damn cute too, if I may say... :p

I for one am UBER excited and looking forward to next week too!!!! :)

Also keep in mind...if you were to ACTUALLY transcribe all the detail and character development etc etc from a book into film instead of adapting it, the movie would be like 30 hours long.

It's impossible to acheive the full depth of story anytime a book is adapted for film so to make that complaint is rather pointless.

I'll prolly go see it....saw the first two and enjoyed them...

BTW...has anyone see the Last Sammuri? I saw it last night...it was pretty good....nothing special...nothing beats Akira Kurosawa's sammurai movies...

just saw the second one and it was pretty damn good, can't wait for the third.

If you get the chance to see the Extended Two Towers go see it.

Lots of stuff (43mins) were cut out and fills in some gaps.

I can see why they edited it down (4 hrs??? damn...) but it's nice to see again in it's entirety

I'm definately going to see this opening night.

I'm very excited to see it...I have my Tuesday night midnight tickets already.

I've read the books 7 times since I was 12 and to me, it is the Bible of the fantasy genre and easily the best story ever told (yes, I include the Bible in that). The movies are a totally different entity and though there are a lot of things that REALLY piss me off, especially in the Two Towers (changes, deletions, additions, etc)...I love them all.

Return of the King was my favourite part of the story (it is just one big story) so I hope the movie turns out to be the same for me. As it stands though, Fellowship is better than TTT.

always with the negativity...you can always just not see the movie and go see Peter Pan instead.

lol...ok, how's this

Lord of the rings - the movie? Who cares? If it is anything like that retched piece of literary (aka the books)....who would want to see go see it?

Sound familiar?

That's right, I went there.

Can we all saw D-R-A-M-A ?

Stating an opinion is fine, but at least back it up with something more substantial then, BARF... ( it adds credibilty to what you say )
Tell me the acting sucked, the score was too epic and not enough techno for your liking, or the panoramic shots hurt your eyes and you couldn't focus on all the action, or those damn hobbits feet were too hairy...negativity with a pinch of creative critisism can at least be respected, otherwise it's just drivel isn't it ?
