it wasn't a big deal, which is why i forgot to post about it until today. anyway, yesterday there was an earthquake (epicenter was just outside of richmond), magnitude 4.5. apparently it was felt through most of virginia, d.c., parts of maryland, north carolina and even delaware. it only lasted for maybe 20 seconds, i was sitting on my bed and it started shaking. it took me about 10 seconds to realize it wasn't just my neighbors being rowdy.
how can this happen, you ask? well, there is a fault line that pretty much runs right along the james river, something i did not know. there was another earthquake (a 3.something) in may. anyone else feel this sucker? |

I'm in Maryland about 15 minutes north of DC. I didn't feel a thing. Maybe you need to turn the volume down on your speakers?
Having an earthquake would certainly make for an interesting game of soccer. |

I actually didnt feel a thing but i did hear what sounded like a lowflying jet screaming thru the sky over my apt.
I didnt think anything of it till i heard someone say that there was an earthquake and that we didnt feel anything here but it sounded like a jet go overhead...
hmm
ive never heard of an earthquake making sound waves, but i guess the S & P seismic waves can travel through air and cause harmonic disturbances?
Anyways interesting news. Hope Virgnia doesnt break away and fall into the Atlantic like california is supposed to :toothless :haha:
