What hardware do I need to hookup two monitors, two speakers and a subwoofer? Say I got a left and right coming out from my amp, what device do I need to use to split the signal 4-5 ways?
Note: I’m in process of getting a new amp so I’ll prob get one that has sub. out

| Well, right now I'm using my Sony amp that used to be part of my so called home entertainment center hehe .. but I'm looking into getting BEHRINGER EUROPOWER EP-1500 or PEAVEY PV-900. As far as the speakers ,monitors and subwoofer, I haven't decided but they prob won't be powered (unless there is a better reason to go with powered speakers). Right I've got a pair of pioneer 160W speakers and a 270W powered Yamaha Subwoofer which do okay but eventually I wanne get more powerful speakers. |

well it sounds like the amp only has 2 channels. An easy way to do it is to hook up the sub and a set of powered monitors to the rca outputs and match a set of two speakers to the 2 channels (or use the ones you have, since i assume they're matched).
That's assuming the sub has it's own filter...i.e. you plug in a normal signal to it and it filters out everything above 120 hz or whatever the cutoff is on it's own and you don't need a sub out. If you need a sub out...then um, you need a sub out ;).
That would only require buying a set of powered monitors. That might actually be one of the cheaper ways to do it, as opposed to buying new everything. |
