What is the point of midi and is it 9 channel?

Hmmm, most of it seems to be a re-design of the existing mixers. There are however a few additional knobs and switches that have caught my interest... I wonder what they do?

Its totally different.. It has listened to the punters too by the looks of things.. You have contorls for the filter on both sides of the mixer now plus channel levels with more than 4 lights..

I reckon it will have midi cabablities too, plus a USB plug for a direct connection to your lap top removing all the wires and stuff of Final Scratch...

Just my opion of course...;)

Richie uses the midi so he can control Final Scratch on one G4 laptop and Albatron (sp?) Live on the other w/o moving away from the mixer. The midi just gives the dj another technology avenue to play with. For example, say you had a song written in Reason that you wanted to spin. you could hook your laptop w/ reason on to this, play the song, and in realtime, via the mixer, tweak different knobs and settings on reason w/o going to your laptop. You might say that you dont need this, but it adds to the performance. What looks better, a person on stage playing w/ knobs on a mixer, or a person on stage playing with a laptop and mouse?

go and read the article for yourself...

http://www.wired.com/news/digiwood/0,1412,61273,00.html

it states...
"So we added some new technologies: MIDI implementation, new knobs and buttons and dials so that a mixer which traditionally controls just the audio feeds controls two G4 laptops. " (talking about what his dad did to the A&H Xone 62 to make it the CTRL mixer)
and then...
"I've got two computers. One is running Final Scratch and one's running this program called Ableton Live, which enables me whole options of doing looping and sampling and different effects work. "

Hey Guys,

I just heard from Allen and Heath that MAP price is expected to be $1,799 US for the Xone 92. A&H was not able to provide ETA. There was a disclaimer in the email they sent me saying "these numbers are unofficial".

Retail: $2,199
MAP: $1,799

I will let you know when they are available.

Spin On!
