soo.....libertarian left??? WHAT? Ok, now I'm REALLY confused...how am I a leftist libertarian? |
You probably desire less government intervention in the social lives of people, yet more government involvement in the economic welfare of people such as distribution of wealth/aid programs. I guess that only in the American political system libertarian is defined as liberty from harm or help ... |

Basically, yes. Our government really does need to ing look at our economy RIGHT NOW, instead of trying to divert our attention with Iraq. |

Hehe, nothing too surprising there. |

Rizen, that analysis of the candidates is very interesting indeed. I'm surprised to see some of the dems so close to Bush ideologically, and it is sad that so many have written off Kucinich because he has some unique ideas. I don't think a dove would prevail in a time when people are trying to kill us on our own soil however. He'd do better to run for a Senate seat in Ohio perhaps.
It makes me wonder where Jack, Robert, and Ted Kennedy would be on that scale, because they were/are all very concerned with human rights. It's ironic that in his death, JFK accomplished more of his civil rights agenda in congress than in life. He and Robert were also close with Martin Luther King Jr.
The two party system in the US does seem to leave a great many people out of the loop, and thus we see the creation of progressive parties (like Teddy's Bull Moose or now the Green), and a right libertarian party. These minor parties really don't have the financial backing and electoral engine of the two main parties however. Thus only low-level officials are ever elected from these parties.
I decided to take the test again...

Let's see if I've changed since I took this test last time.
Economic Left/Right: 1.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.38
Interesting. I'm more right than last time I took the test, where I was slightly left on minus side, but same on Authoritarian scale. |

Last time I was essentially right with Ghandi, but since then I appear to have moved towards anarchism. :nervous:
Economic Left/Right: -5.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.95
So yeah, I have changed quite a bit - I think I'm turning into a hippy. |
