Modded Tech - Ground wire

| Hey people, just wondering I bought a second hand deck and it has no ground wire but sounds fine anyway, it has been modded by a club and has RCA jacks out the back, but there is no ground wire to hook up, just wondering why and how?, cheers peops. |

It's a common mod. Most mixers have the outer ring of the RCA connectors and the ground terminal(s) shared, so they used that to remove the ground wire.
The mod just consists of opening up the Tech at the cable parts, and bridging the ground wire with the cold point of the RCA connector (some people still leave the ground wire, tucked in the base, but you can remove it now).
Like I said, works like a charm if the ground and outer ring of the RCA (cold point) are shared, if it isn't you will get hum. Luckily, 90% are sharing. |

| is there a mod you can do to change the actual rca cables, so u can use audio interconnects? (better cables?) |

| Thanks for the reply Thy, that site you listed looks awesome, I'm checking it out now, I got it done to one of my Techs, and am gonna do it to the other aswell, along with changing the pitch fader to a M3D one, and changing the LEDS to blue and the pop up light to a super white LED, so cheers for the site:D . |

Keep in mind that changing the popup light to a LED isn't as simple as putting a led (with resistor) into the shaft. A normal bulb will send lightrays in an omnidirectional fashion.
Led's are very directive. And just putting a led into the popup shaft will make the led shine right up. You'll only have minimal light coming out of the popup hole (cuz it's only mild reflections). You'll have to bend the led so it shines through the hole, or find a mirroring system to reflect light better.
One of the Futureproducers members has made a method (and a kit available) to mod the pop up light (he uses blue ones, as they make the ortofon nightclub tips light up due to UV reactivity). Contact dynagroove for more info, his kits are well worth it.
