| Hello to all!i know everybody will hate me for this thread i'm posting, but i already read the faq and precedent posts and i found nothing specific for my problem(s). As first thing,my sound card is a soundblaster audigy with 5.1 surround system and i've also understood that there is the way to listen to the headphone while sound is live, but i can't understand HOW can i pursue that...i should need someone explain me step by step CLEARLY how to configure traktor dj studio v2.51. The second problem is that the subwoofer is joined to the pc via 3 links that occupies 3 jack of my sound card. all the other satellities are joined to the subwoofer. when someone'll say me how to configure traktor, where i should connect the headphone? THANK U!!! |

You realize they're completely different programs right? Reason for producing, traktor is (kind of) like a dj setup for your computer |

i use kx drivers for audigy(search google)
and with it i can have front and rear sound port, with front i set it to deck 1 on traktor, rear i set it to deck 2 on traktor.
you cant record you actual mix w/in tracktor, because you are using external mixer. (im using djm500) but you can record it off of mixer with a sony MD or something.
alot of big names use external mixers w/ traktor. its like final scratch w/out the vinyl |

i use traktor 2.5.1 with the Dm2 setup as midi and numark 260 (w kaos pad) as external mixer. my on-board soundcard is 5.1 and i have creative labs 6.1 surround sound speakers, which, as yours, have all 3 inputs on the subwoofer box.
ok 1st:
set your sound card to 4 speaker output.
-from your pc come out with headphone-rca converting cables from the front speaker out jack to ch1 of your mixer.
-also do the same from the rear speaker out jack to ch2 of mixer.
2nd from the mixer to your surround sound:
run cables from master off mixer to front or rear inputs of your surround(you wont get surround anymore obviously)
what i did was i ran it to the rear which power the center channel as well as rear surround (3 speakers) and off the same cable i used a y splitter to plug into the subwoofer input on the subwoofer box as well. thats to get some bass out too.
3rd traktor setup:
in the setup screen you switch to external mixer mode (should be a box you check) and choose inputs 1-4 as deck A left; deck A right; deck B left etc...on my sound card it goes something like 0,1,2,3 channel banks. thats how mine are labeled.
last:
recording: forget recording in traktor.
i run the tape/monitor outputs from mixer back into pc line/in jack.
BE CAREFUL. Make sure in the software of your 5.1 soundcard you UNCHECK the line-in sound from coming in. otherwise your mix will loop back in into the mixer..makes for a very confusing 45 min ...dont mute it, then it wont record. on my setup it lets me adjust volume which i leave all the way up, and has on/off switch for i guess turning off sound that will be played through the sound card. bottom line: you want to keep the INPUT volume up: thats what your PC hears from the mixer. BUT you want to prevent the soundcard from playing the sound coming into the line in ..back out to your mixer...
i record with musicmatch just because my ipod came with a legit copy..otherwise the hacked version sux...locks up...i record in wav. not mp3 so i can use sound forge for final editing...use whatever prog records without stuttering..and messing up your mix..

hey GQMr2,
My setup is similar to yours, only thing when i record using soundforge on my pc, or any other recording software, it records the track i am cueing up also. that means while i am beatmatching etc, the signal also gets recorded, although the volume faders on the channel is down (on my external mixeR)
Do i need a splitter of some sort? and where do i put it? |
