i don't think there's anything wrong with "awkward moments" (if youre referring to moments of silence when u got nothing to say)...i mean, i'm pretty good friends with this girl from school and we get our silences too...and we dont' have that much in common.
Not everyones life is so interesting that they could go on and on and on and on. There needs to be a breather and a moment to gather your thoughts again...so he shouldn't really worry about it.
