I find that songs have a far greater impact emotionally when they are part of a movie soundtrack. The combination of visuals and sound can be very moving.
Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings in the movie "Platoon" almost made me cry.
That song is so beautiful, and it conveys such a great degree of sadness in it. It is a powerful, emotive song. The song was played many times throughout the movie while we watched images of the devastation caused by the Vietnam War e.g. when the helicopter is flying over the battlefield.
William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings is my fave song of all time!!
The song at the end of The beach when they are all leaving the island is also very sad. Anyone know what it is called?
Another very emotive song in my opinion is the song in Gladiator when Maximus has the visions of returning home to his family...it has really haunting, beautiful vocals in it. Anyone know the name of that song?? |
