It never fails to amaze me. While someone puts up an opinion expressing they like something, others always have to come along and try do discredit it by saying that they just like the popular stuff. And that they on the other had have been down with whatever sice whenever... like it really maters?

That's one of the reasons why I turned my back on rap music as a whole. All this oneupmanship crap. Rap also tends to have a slightly crappy view on other music types unless they can sample it (Admittedly not true in all cases)... As Eminem said "No one listens to techno". Yeah right. First up, what is he calling techno, second actually a ton of people in the world do.
Ok, so he was only slagging off Moby I hear you say... well actually, have you heard 'Go'? One of the original classics from the early 90's that was way ahead of it's time.

Not sure what this little rant was about but it felt necessary.

You're going to base the entire genre on what one man said in 1 verse of his song? You need more examples to make your point valid.

the song and video annoys me. I never said i would rather listen to "i got hoes in different area codes/bling bling with the ching ching/chillin at the holiday inn/bitches hoes blah blah blah/murders killings".

I think a song like "Guilty Conscience" is better. The beats and melody is important. "hey ya" is friggen annoying especially the "alright alright alright..." part. blah blah.

If you can only base your opinion on one or two songs of theirs then you shouldn't voice it.

Funny thing is, how many of you knew about or liked Outkast before "Hey Ya"? I've been following them since "Rosa Parks" came out.

Well i've been following them since
"Southerplayalisticcaddllicmuzik" came out

I don't really dig their new stuff at all. I feel their first two albums were by far their best. With that being said, I consider ATLiens is my favorite hip hop cd of all time.

I think the complete opposite. I think their music is horrible mainstream wannabe hip hop rappers. "miss jackson" was an okay song, definately overplayed, but "hey ya" is a song is cant ing stand. It makes me want to puke when i hear that song. imo Outkast is horrible. "hey ya" is somewhere between lame rap and pop music. The video is ghey too, its like a horrific version of st. patricks day.

I seem to be the only person that can't stand outkast?

Pick up ATLiens and listen to it. It's alot different from their lastest stuff which I agree with you, it does suck.

For all the people who think their mainstream wanna be rappers, listen to their first two albums.

Not at all, :) there are a ton of tracks out there who mention other genres in a derogatory fashion. That track just happened to stick in my mind due to the Size Tripple D track using that sample.
Are you telling me that there aren't others? I have a vinyl collection that's about 5'000 strong with about 1'000 of that being Hip Hop. I think I might be able to give you one or two examples if you wish...

A lot of rappers have a hard enough time being nice about eachother. Some even kill eachother.
I used to really like hip hop in the early 80's (Early electro is what got me interested in electronic dance music) but as my first post said, things have changed.
I don't have any problems with rap as such or anyone who listens to it. But for my own taste I find that it's far too hate filled. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a religous nutter or a deranged hippy. I just don't have time for all that aggro. Perhaps I just got older and don't relate in the same way.

Some rap is uplifting some educates but on the most part it's all bling or hoes these days. As the thread says, Outkast are pretty cool as they do what they feel and so on.

Just my 0.2 Euros worth.

Cheers
