Clear Channel In JSA With Southern California's 'KDL'
Entravision Dance simulcast will flip to Active Rock
Although no official announcement from either CC or Entravision had been issued at press time, sources tell R&R that Clear Channel will soon be selling ads for Entravision's Los Angeles-area Dance simulcast, KDLD/Santa Monica, CA and KDLE/Newport Beach, CA, via a joint sales agreement. KDLD & KDLE, known on-air as "103.1 KDL," on Friday dismissed their entire airstaff and are now running via automation. That will last until Dec. 21, when the stations will begin airing continuous Christmas music. On Dec. 26, KDLD & KDLE will flip to Active Rock in an attempt to lure listeners and revenue from Infinity's crosstown Alternative KROQ. Look for a new PD for KDLD & KDLE to be announced "by the end of the week." More details in Today's News.
But, even though the station was marginal, it still was a EDM station. Very sad to see it go. |

| Like someone mentioned, although it played mostly cheesy stuff, it was the only EDM station in LA. Once again this shows how ignorant Americans are when it comes to EDM. |

it sucks that kdl had to go out this way. this is actually the second time that this has happened. the first time was in '98 when the dance music station of that era was replaced for a spanish radio station, and now ... the only dance music station gets replaced with a rock station. very tragic indeed :sadgreen:
we'll just have to look forward to listening to afterhour radio on saturday nights after kroq.

actually, if u guys don't mind hearing a mix of differnt kinds of electronica, there's a really good show on KCRW via NPR at 89.9 around LA and orange counties called metropolis hosted by jason bentley, the guy that arranged the music for the matrix movies. it's really mellow in the beginning and gets harder towards the end....some highlights from the last show i heard from him include a bootleg of sasha vs. undeworld - airdrawnslippy, hybrid - true to form, chemical brothers - golden path. and the good thing is, he takes a break in between sets to name all the songs that he has just gone through. other than that and the few minutes that they take to plug the station and some other upcoming events....it's a really good show, check it out if u have some time...
the show airs most weekdays from 7:30pm to 10pm. |
