New Drug Policy of Holland Towards to Colmbia region.

Well i just saw it on the TV, the minister of justice is making a new drug policy against the people who smuggle cocaine to holland, useually from colombia..
and hey!! it was amazingly funny,
Well it goes like this
Everyone who smuggles 3 kilo or less cocaine amounts, will get caught of cource, but only thing that happens is, the person or persons get send back without any jail, or anything they just let them free without the cocaine..
seriously this is nutz, a kid that steals a snickers, gets a day jail maybe or some community service, while a bad ass thug guy gets free...
of cource this goes only for people that come from colombia by plane, anyone els gets jail...
so weird if you ask me..discuss. |

Holland and countries from that part of Europe tend to have the best thought out legislation... it's one of the few countries whose drug policies tend to make sense IMHO. As for this specific piece of law, I must a dmit it sounds a bit strange, but without reading the actual act, the parliamentary debates about it and the reports/research that incited politicians to enact it, its hard to make comments. |

if NL put every drug courier who´s arriving by plane in jail => damned expensive (several thousand euros each month per person)
if NL sends them back to the originating country, that country has to deal with the person => costs NL only the flight back
Sound legislature, if you ask me. |

i doubt it if anything happens in the originiating countries, since the drug smuggles only get caught in holland and not there.
also 3 kilo is bit much i do understand the situation, and of cource i know why they wanne do this, but come on 3 KILO!!, thats like each thug gets 2.9 kilo , goes on a plane, and if he fails he try tomrrow again. Nothing legislature about it, though i have to admit it's a cheap way of fighting it. |

So they don´t harras people with 3 kilo or LESS in NL themselves, "only" send them back.
And as it looks punishment or jail has never stopped people from trying. Even in Malaysia with death penalty people try to get stuff into the country.
Yes, I agree, the originating country will probably do nothing about it - but it´s the cheapest way of fighting it. |

but i think this policy, will make things worse, since now it's no risk anyway, more people would come now. |

Holland here i come! :crazy:
actually this policy won't make any difference as they will be punished here anyway. the only thing that would make things really change is if they legalize drugs worldwide. |
