I don't understand how some of you are saying there is NO WAY you could date a smoker. So you are saying that if you really really liked a girl, like man, this could be "the one"...but she just lit up a smoke. I guess I'm going to have to search around some more here. Dammit I really liked that girl. As if!
There are things that can be done by the way, #1 if it's really that big of a deal, I would imagine that if this girl and you were meant for each other she'd try to get some help in quitting. Someday at least. And also, she doesn't have to smoke around you, which may help her quit if you guys are together a lot. But for me, I smoke and my ex didn't and he was a major sweetie about it. He hated it but if I had a smoke or somethign he wouldn't say much, just kinda bug me about it. And he would kiss me and if i smelled or tasted like smoke, he'd tell me quickly and I would go freshen up 'til I smelled good enough for him. So it can work out. Don't rule out smoker's all together cuz who knows, one of them might be your soulmate! hehe

No offense to you, but smoking is a big deal to some of us. I don't want to be with someone that smokes and I would never take the time to get to know someone intensely (enough to determine that they could be "the one") that does. It would take getting to know someone for me to feel the way that you described and by then I would know if they smoke or not. You said what if they are "the one"? So you are trying to say that I know that they are "the one" but I don't even know specifics like whether they smoke or not? I didn't exactly take a lot of time in getting to know that person now did I? I don't care how good looking or how great someone's personality is...I won't date the guy if he smokes.
If you haven't had any problems with dating then that is great. Seriously. I honestly hope that one day you are able give up smoking. Lung cancer took my uncles life last year and he was a wonderful man. |

Some people have preferences when it comes to looks, occupation, values, morals, common interests, etc. No one questions that. My preference just also happens to entail non-smokers. Why should that be so shocking? Don't we already cut out part of the population based on our own personal criteria? How about the people that won't date someone that is divorced or has children? |

Now...I never said that I wouldn't be friends with a smoker. I have many friends that smoke. I just don't want to date a smoker. That's a personal preference. I just wanted to clarify that. ;) |

I don't know whether it's shocking to him, or anyone, or whether he, or anyone, cares about divorced people with children. I think he just wants to know why you wouldn't date a smoker. |

By me making a statement? I didn't word it as a question. I said "no one questions that". I didn't write..."I question why no one questions that". I did write "Don't we already cut out part of the population based on our own personal criteria?". I wasn't questioning myself. It's a fact.

And here I thought that I already answered that.
He wrote that "if you only date non-smokers you are cutting out a large part of the population u could be missing out on many awesome people!!" and I simply was making a point. I believe it's a damn good point. We all cut people out whether you admit to it or not. |
