The Intro and Pads are very nice (although the stringson 0:27 seem to come in a little sudden and upset the balance) Perhaps a little more percussion as the track builds.
The bass synth that comes in on 0:30 is awful
The synth on 1:15 is too cheap by far and doesn't do justice to the pads and beats underneath it
The sample starting on 6:30 is cool and works well with the pads and beats but again the main synths that follow spoil it.
There's some good parts to this track and it progresses nicely. What software and vst's are you using? Look around at different instruments to improve your synths because they are whats letting the track down. As to whether it's dancefloor worthy, you would have to change a lot, generally beef it up. A good start would be that 'bass' sound on 0:30. Find something deeper and maybe spice it up a bit to give the track some drive. It's probably leaning more towards the chillout market and would certainly be an easier task.
But if, as you say, this is one of your first attempts then give yourself a big pat on the back, this is far better than any of my first works. There's definate potential for this with some work. Keep it up. |

Hmmm, i just had a listen to this also.
Just as RBS said above, this is a very good attempt for one of your first, although here's my thoughts on what could be changed to make this sound better..
Percussion just needs to be swiped and started on again, give it more of a kick, it sounds a bit lost in there, perhaps add some more hi's.
(as RDS said as well) Bassline doesen't really shine through enough in my honest opinion, sounds very flat and kind of hidden, something with a bit more drive would benefit you greatly.
Some work on these points and the ones from RBS too and you're onto something much stronger i think.
Hope my comments have been of some help! :) |

thanks a lot for the feedback. the sound that comes in at :30 is actually a tom, intended to give it kind of a twisted house feel, but other people who have listened to the track have also said they dislike it so i will probably take that out altogether. the real bassline is sub bass and comes in with the melody at 1:15. i agree with you about that synth lead. i made this in reason, but i just bought reaktor because i am tired of searching for decent synth refills for reason. reaktor has some great sounds, just wanted to finish this track in reason first before i tackle learning cubase and reaktor. i really like the reason interface now that i am used to it tho - has anyone tried buying those commercial trance refills for reason, like Zero G? they are probably better than the free ones i have. if you check it again listen for the sub bass i think it sounds pretty good, maybe just confusing with that tom i have in there. thanks again for the feedback if i am able to fix some of these things i will post the song again and see what you think.
