actually i'm getting pretty bored by that sound..
95% chance its a detuned supersaw with loads of chorus/reverb/delay on it if its the (cheesy) song I have in mind |

| Though right you may be, I see nothing wrong with trying to recreate the sound, that's always a good thing to do in the learning process. |

| try adding some high frequency noise to the synth as well, that gives the cheesy high pitched feel innit. but its as dezma said, just a combo of detuned saws with chorus and reverb. |

Checkout the softsynth SuperWave P8
I think it's mentioned with a link in some threads here ie either the best VST synths, or best free software synth (superwave is a free SynthEdit synth). |
