When he said Oakey...Tiesto? He was referring to the Oakey vs. Tiesto thread, which can be found here: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...?threadid=14149 ;) |

Argh.. more "vs." threads....
Well, here we go:
Picotto vs. PvD - I would have to say that on mixing skills, PvD spanks Picotto flat out.... although Picotto really gets a crowd "moving" a lot better than PvD... at PvD shows, everyone just crys, enjoys the music, and (in some cases), get "stuck" in the corner blowing up...hee hee. (this isn't necessarily a bad thing, though!) I just prefer the Picotto style of IN-YOUR-FACE hard that gets the whole floor moving... i can't say i've ever seen someone just standing still at a Picotto show... granted, he trainwrecks a LOT, but who cares when the music is so damn good!
as far as producing, even though PvD has some good tracks, Picotto i think has PvD in this contest, but this contest is really by musical tastes, not by skills, so....i just prefer Picotto's music, its all-around (you have the trancey-stuff and the hard stuff), plus Picotto has made so much more music (granted all under different pseudonyms), but i kinda like it all man.
They're both great, i can't pick a clear winner of who's "better".....(talk about 2 TOTALLY different styles here), but if i had a choice of who to go see live, i would pick Mauro Picotto!!

2 amazing DJ's.....
I've heard about Picotto's performances, although i've never been to one (Innercity this year hopefully!), and apparently he is amazing live.....so I will have to go with Mauro Picotto |

| I reckon Picotto. This should have been a poll don't you think? |

Err, where the hell did you see Picotto that he was trainwrecking?
I saw him very recently for a 3 hour set, and quite frankly his mixing was un-friggin-believable, flawless, never even a bit off. I know, now when I go out, I can't but help but cringe at the slightest error in mixing. Maybe it was a fluke, but flukes usually don't last 3 hours...
...and there is no way Picotto has produced/remixed more tracks than Pvd...look it up, that man has done a load.
They are both amazing at what they do though, I personally prefer PvD, but they are both at the same level of talent, and they both destroy crowds.
More of my unsolicited opinions...

What are we comparing mixing skills? Productions? Track selections?
They both are innovators, each having their own unique sound. Brilliant Producers but PVD is more diverse. Picotto just bangs out his sets. |
