Amen to that :p

Although she's not really Jewish herself, she just comes from a Jewish family. She did say she considers herself to be Jewish though. (The difference being??). Man I'm obsessed. I think i'm gonna make a Natalie Portman Alliance.

Well a lot of them certainly think of themselves as a race. I have Jewish blood on my mother's side... according to the rules (Chalacha ??) I am a Jew whether I like it or not (a chalachic Jew). I've been told this by countless Jews. Also if I ever decided to take up the religion it would just be a matter of getting circumcised and following the rules. Its much harder for someone who doesn't have any Jewish blood in them.
However I don't really follow any religions at all... I was baptised into the Russian Orthodox church and went to a Christian school. I don't really know much about Judaeism and don't identify with the culture/traditions (although I'd still get offended if someone said something antisemitic). If I had to choose a mainstream religion I'd probably pick Christianity for that reason. This puts me in a bit of a conundrum when Jews ask me if i'm Jewish... If I say no, then its like I'm denying my heritage or being ashamed of it (which I'm definitely not). If I say I am... it'd probably be offensive to those who actually follow the religion and keep kosher etc...
