| specialK, when it comes down to it your desktop should be #1. You can upgrade speakers, video & sound cards, ram, basically everything alot cheaper & easier to a desktop. Also most desktops sold have twice the hard drive space compared to a similar laptop. So like i mentioned b4 IBM Thinkpads i have used & had no problems ever & were easy to navigate. Dont go too wild sinking a ton of $$$ into a laptop. Im also in the market for a laptop & im not gonna spend more than $950 on a laptop. Use it as a extra or backup computer of convienence. |

like they said 400+ cpu
motherboard, at least 150+
ram TWO gigs? 150 for 1 gig if its generic, 300 dollars MINIMUM
geforce 5950, haha 500+
500 gig wd, uhhhhhhhh i have no clue on what the price is for 250 gig wd say 200 dollars 400+
SB audigy 200+
some case 100+
1650 being extremely generous, realistically it would be over 3k
anyway get a desktop unless you travel a lot because lap (LAB??)tops are hard to upgrade and they often dont have many upgrade paths |

Laptops suck. I bought a little Sony Viao when I was in highschool. Around sophmore year the delete key, control key, and alt key broke, as well as a few of the other keys. By this time I learned that laptops suck ass. It's a pain in ths ass to upgrade them too.
When the keys broke I took it into bestbuy and they were like "We can't fix this" so they gave me all my money back for what i paid for it and i got a slammin PC. Beat the hell outta my laptop.
Until wireless internet becomes more widespread I don't see any point in getting a laptop unless you use it for business. |
