We would like to warn all the promoters worldwide and all the fans. There is an American based booking agency who claim to have Daft Punk, Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo on its Live & DJ roster. It's not true, please do not work with them.
We are now in studio in Paris working on the next Daft Punk album.We are not DJing nor playing Live since our last "Daftendirektour" back in 97-98.

Seems that someone pretending to be Thomas Bengalter of Daft Punk contacted several promoters and had them book a gig. When they realized from Daft Punk's booking agency that the person they were dealing with was an imposter, the imposter fled and is still on the run.
However, there might be another theory to it. It seems that one of the promoters involved in OrganicVibe, the group responsible for throwing Utopica, has had a most shady past in ripping off other D.J.'s in other shows and the like, in which he has become a loathed enemy in the Bay Area scene. Some has accused him of simply making up a lie that Daft Punk was going to play in Utopia just so more people would show up to the venue. But this theory is still unproven. Whatever it might be, it is clear that Daft Punk will not be playing at Utopia, but the venue will still continue with the resident dj's spinning at the Avalon Ballroom. |

And what I said in the above post is purely speculation. I didn't say I knew for sure. I was only speculating after I read what several members on Bayraves.com wrote. Anyway, I don't know who you are, but you certainly don't know me. Don't make any half-asses assumptions about me if you never even met me. |

Oh yes, let's deny the reason we're a groupie. :rolleyes: First off, why would you want the pic in the first place? Is it because she's a chic? A chic that's also a DJ? Does her skills speak for herself? Whether or not you took the pic is one thing, but you advertise it. Bad move, pal. You're associating yourself with a dj that uses politics, her female status, and her residencies to push her name forward. She's really not that good of a dj. Only reason she even gets half of a somewhat bearable set to listen to, is because she works at Skills and has the resources of vinyl.
As for the "Bayraves" guy who is supposedly shady. You don't know him, so why even try to bring it over here? You might know his name, but you don't know him personally. Well I do, and I think you need to take a step back and realize you're not involved with what's going on. The weird thing is, I have friends who don't like him, but I talk to him as well and don't hold any grudges that my friends do. So my advice is to just leave the topic regarding my acquaintance out of this. You don't know what's been done or said, so butt out.... I'm trying to be nice. Anyhoo, reply as you will. ^^ It's not about being a groupie, my point was about associating yourself with a dj. Some dj's demand more respect than others because of their actions, rather than playing off of our scene.
Also, I noticed that you don't cover events that are "raves", only club nights. |

I will cover raves if it involves acts worth seeing that are't totally local or if it's an event that I personally think is cool. |

Lotus, you're getting your twisted. Yes, I don't know him, but to say I can't say anything about him here because I don't personally know him is bull. That's like saying that all the people here can't talk about Tiesto, PVD, Armin, Ferry and the like because they don't personally know them. I don't care if you are an acquitance of this person, (Funke Miguel). It's not my fault if people think he's a ing retard, and I'm certainly not going to feel bad if I bring up the fact that people think he's a ing retard. I brought that up in hopes to clarify what was going on with the Utopia venue. That's considered a party in San Francisco, so...can't you read the topic then? However, attacking people on-line just because you don't like their avatars is stupid. But if you want to continue looking like a dumbass then by all means, keep calling me a Denise groupie then. I don't really mind. I'll just keep laughing at your face for it.
And BTW, I think Dave does a bang up job in promoting the different venues here. Get off his f***ing back. |

That's different than if you were to say he's a particular type of person because of his skills or personality. Saying he's a "ing retard" from hearsay or even agreeing with people being the sheep you are, is not proving anything on the matters of the venue itself or who was scheduled to be at that event. See, you're misconstruing what I'm saying only because you'll make an assumption of someone before you actually know them. Get your head out of your ass, and try to at least see that he's dealing with situations. Situations that are putting him against other DJ's/Promoters. How he goes about that doesn't really affect the two of us but I'm hoping that you can at least comprehend what is going on, rather than "second guess" it.

I'm going to assume Dave "works" for Tranceaddicts, and I might be able to offer some advice on this. It's best for Tranceaddicts to get "hits" because of a broader coverage of what is happening within San Francisco. Trippendicular is a prime example of an event that I feel could use some coverage on here, and if so asked/required, I'll be more than glad to give the information for it.
After all, this is the San Francisco parties :2004 edition. That's open for interpretation beyond clubs.:) |

2. Personally, I'm not hugely interested in local acts. Everyone knows about local acts. I try to let everyone know about DJs outside of this area that are coming to town, especially international DJs. But, as I said, if I think a special event is happening that is very nice and includes just local DJs, I will still list it...just like the 1998/1999 event that happened this past weekend. I thought that idea of that event was very nice and I would have love to be there if I wasn't in Florida.

If you think you could do a better job and keep it as up to date as I do, then by all means take over the list. Less work for me. I do it just because I travel a bit and need to know what's up as far in advance as possible to be sure I'm in town whenever I can be when someone I want to see is playing...and I spend a few extra minutes adding the BBCode to make it postable on these here boards (and a couple other places).
