ello help kinda hoping someone knows about pc's
sowwy not been about buttttttttt.. here it goes
i tried to re format my hard drive and it went pear shape :eyes:
format went fine, but when it came to re installing xp poof :whip:
it copied files ok but wouldnt install all i got was a blue screen with a STOP (0100 blah blah blah) bios error on it, but my bios is fine, all drivers up to date. so i plugged in me slave drive thats xp and it works fine, sooooooooooooo if there was something wrong with my bios my slave drive wouldnt work right? :conf:
so i had a bright idea to put on win 2000 then upgrade alas i was wrong that wouldnt even copy files :eyes:
motherboard is a ms-6378 with a v6 flashing bios if that means anything to anyone
hope someone can help (prays) cos i am stuck on a poncy ikkle 4.3 hard drive at the mo

you can't upgrade from win2k into winxp, you have to do a clean reinstall.
try reformatting / reinstalling again, maybe something went wrong just that time.

wow, you ed that up didn't you, lol it happens to everyone. I don't really know how you can up the BIOS by reformating a Partition, as it would be impossible, if i recall windows xp will install or try and install the drivers to all your things connected inside and outside your pc before installing windows, if you have a hardware conflict your gonna get a blue screen, i very much doubt that your HDD drive is damaged thats all a blue screen would bring up as windows installer would usually say cannot install windows due to whatever, still the BIOS has nothing to do with much, if you can get passed start up then your BIOS is fine. personally i would rip everything out of your computer, well not rip but rebuild or atleast reset the CMOS on your motherboard for a few secs, or take out the CMOS Battery, for a secs make sure your pc is turned off, i would then goto BIOS , and check that it has found your IDE & IDE2 & 3 HDD, CDROM, FLOPPY, ETC, do RAM check and reboot, if you PC monitor wont appear turn off Quick Boot in BIOS, hopefully you can get in, if you can get past POST BOOT without errors then everything seems fine, boot from A: floppy disk , then fdisk the your HDD, then format it then install windows. if problems are still happening try installing win 98, or 95 if all else fails,

| You can indeed install XP over 2000. Infact installing XP over an existing windows variant was the only way to do it for about a year. They didn't have bootable stand alone disks available. Anyway just get some boot disks and try again. Report back if it's still fuked. |

okies quicky update for ya tried wot you guys suggested but still no joy :whip:
all has failed and my dad couldnt get it to run on his machine either so i fecked the drive somewhere along the line :eyes:
as my dad says " women "
