I'm a big believer in the saying that the mind can achieve anything it can conceive. And i think that if the right people put their heads together, they could throw one of the best NYE parties Toronto has ever seen. I'm one of these people, and over the course of 2004, i will find a several more ambitious individuals to form the group that will make it happen.
What i'm looking for at this moment are ideas. Random thoughts you can throw my way. What works, what doesn't, in terms of venue, music, security, promotion, and most importantly, making sure the night's income exceeds the expenses. There are a thousand aspects that need to be taken care of, and i won't stop until i perfect absolutely each and every one of them. |

I'm very interested!!!
To start, I'd help with promotions, and would like to be a DJ for the night.
You can't go wrong either with a line-up of:
trance, hard-styles, techno, and maybe chillout? |

| Trance for sure! Chillout towards the end maybe, or maybe not. They don't exactly play it at club events, so there must be a reason. Not a huge fan of techno though *dodges flying vinyl* Out of curiosity, what do big-name DJs charge? Probably not an option, but i'd like to know |

| What about venues? What are the options, what are the prices? How much do bouncers charge? How do you arrange for LLBO, and how much is liquer wholesale? Throw some prices at me people, give me something to work with. |

are you planning on using an already established club? or another venue?
There are licenses you need to get to sell alcohol. what you would need is a permit or a temporary liquor license for the day if u werent going to use a club or a place that already has one. all that info you can get at www.lcbo.ca or www.lcbo.com cant remember what one it is. All the information for that is there though. As for liquor wholesale, there is none. you buy the bottle at the regular price, then sell it for like 5 bucks an ounce. same with 24's or kegs. You just need to get the license to buy that much alcohol. If its not done legally, theres some pretty hefty fines. Then theres also the reliability of serving the alcohol and the responsibities that go along with it. Youll need to find a way to serve it properly and a way to keep track of who your selling to. This is all pretty general knowledge stuff tho. I think anyways. Just make sure you follow ALL the rules regarding licenses and stuff..make sure your ass is covered. The laws aren't lenient at ALL if u miss even ONE detail.
As for bouncers, the bouncers at my old bar got like 100 bucks a night. The bouncers at this one club i used to hang out with used to get up to 250 a night....then theres always the case of bouncers getting paid to let ppl in past line up etc etc. this one guy i know brought in like 350 on bribes alone on a sat night. you have to get people you know you can trust for that. |
