I'm assuming that if you already have HiFi speakers then you also have an amplifier to drive those speakers. Then what you need to do is to leave those speakers connected to your amplifier and to connect your mixer to one of the amplifier inputs. The only additional cable you should need to do this is a stereo RCA cable.

The only decks I know anything about are Technics, but I can tell you that Technics already come with all the cables that you need (power, phono RCA, and grounding wire) hardwired to the deck.

My HiFi speakers are connected to my CD/cassette player. I am not using an amp.

Could i connect my CD/cassette player directly to the mixer? though the player only has those red-yellow-white plugs behind

its very unlikely that you are not using an amp. either your speakers are self powered or your cd/cassette player has a built in amp. check to see if your cd/cassette player has auxilary inputs.

what kind of "plugs" are they i am guessing rca. look to see if it says "line in" or "auxilary in" or something like that. if that is the case then you just hook your mixer output into that and switch your cd/cassette player to aux or

your CD player has to have and aux input, it will be red and white RCA jacks. hook your mixer at that. otherwise, you cant wire the speakers straigt to a mixer, unless they are self amplified.

i'm using a Sony HiFi system. At the back there are those red n white RCA jacks which are used to plug Minidisc players in, or playstations. There are none marked AUX and there is no button to switch to AUX mode. If there is no AUX does that mean there is no amp?

But i've seen so many pics of bedroom setups and they all manage to hook it up.

yes you must have an amp, what does it say next to those RCA jacks, if its says something with In at the end, your in business, like everyone has said, get some RCA cables and hook your mixer to those, but if it says somthing with Out at the end, its game over.
Oh and there must be a way of switching to that Input if it is an IN jack, just check your manual or mess with your HiFi abit or look it up on the internet, you should also tell us what Hifi it is exactly, maybe somebody knows about it, but honestly I'm like 95% sure you can hook your speakers up, so don't worry about it.

My HiFi model is MHC-VX555 (Sony).. there is a picture of it here:

The only jacks marked 'IN' at the back are the ones I connect to my pc/soundcard (red and white RCA jacks). It says "MD/VIDEO(AUDIO) IN".

Then there is a Game port for playstations with the yellow-white-red RCA jacks. It is marked "Input".

those will do... you just need an audio input. "aux" was just an example.

if your speakers work...tat means that you have an amp. it wouldnt make sense to put in a signal that bypasses the amp.

Ahhh I geddit..
I just use an RCA cable from my mixer's MASTER output and connect it to any vacant RCA jacks on my HiFi..

Do mixers normally come with the necessary cables? Its a djx700. coz i'm only getting it in a couple of days' time and wanna make sure i've got everything ready=))
DjJade
generally mixers dont come with cables becuase cableing is very system dependent i think... plus alot of people dont use "stock" cables so wtih higher end systems, it would be a waste of money to include cables.
