Hello,
I think compressing the bassdrum with the bassline is very impotant, but I don't know how to do it exactly.
It should sound like the basslines in tracks from Push, AvB or A&B, just to name a few.
A tutorial would be nice :)
Maybe some settings like: release, attack, ratio, threshold, etc.
Also it would be very nice if you also say, which compressor you use.
Thanks in advance,

There are no fixed settings for compressing bass & bassdrum
you may set the ratio rather high (I mostly start at 8:1) and then lowering it if you want it less compressed along with a short attack (the faster the attack the faster the compresser will work), and a medium release (the time for the compressor to go back to the original volume)Set the threshold at its highest setting and lower it down untill you have the sound you want then compensate it with the gain up.
Try doing the same with the bassline but with shorter release.
Again, the key is experimentation.
If you got it out of a soundmodule or cd, or whatever it will mostly allready been compressed. If it's straight out of an analog synth you'll have to compress a lot.
good luck ;) |
