ok...i know a lot of you ppl love oakenfold, avb and others. I understand that promoters are trying to earn a living...profit keeps them going. Yes...some of you will point out as well..i'm semi retired from clubbing till i find work....anyway...skipper raised a valid point. Why not get more techno deejays into Toronto...I mean...unless you put 3 big names...i dunno if you would fill the koolhaus but what about system....bringing in say Luke Slater, Kevin Saunderson, Umek, Adam Beyer and others. I mean this is not a techno is better than anything thread....this is more of a get more variety into toronto clubs. I mean toronto has always been a eurodance town..for the most part...for yrs...now it is really a just sit on the fence type town and ppl going to see big names. Why can't we get more variety of deejays into toronto...forget the sashas, the digweeds and others...who always play here. I mean what about the dave the drummers, surgeon, marco corola and others?

Bring on the techno. As well as the experimental...I am still annoyed that I missed Squarepusher when he was here @ The Phoenix...grrrrr.

I think the correct term would be 'house/r&b/hiphop'...

Granted Euro is pretty strong but that goes without saying because of the Italian community...(that's not a slight against them, thats just years of observation speaking)
If you don't agree just look at half the club names...

I do wish for more techno...and although we have variety to a certain extent in Toronto as it is, I would like to be able to go out, and have the venue be fantastic. The crowd, awesome. Hear music that leaves me speechless. It seems to happen so often for you guys on this board, but I guess that makes sense since the best clubs (ie best sound systems) bring in DJs that you like quite often.

To be honest, I'm frustrated because every truly magical night I've had in the last year or so, where everything has come together, has been in Montreal with the exception of Gaetano @ Element. Sven @ KH was also good. Do I have to drive to Montreal to have a truly wicked experience?

Well Dave Clarke's label says he is playing Toronto in early 2004. I guess go see him but avoid his personality. I mean other deejays love Toronto and tell their dj buddies. I guess if the masses want a certain dj then promoters will bring it...harp on them I guess.

Marco Carola was here twice this year. So were Valentino Kanzyani, Adam Beyer, Gaetano Parisio, Ken Ishii, Chris Liebing, Richie Hawtin, Marco Bailey, Danilo Vigorito, and Speedy J. I know that's still less techno than trance/house/euro, but don't you think it's pretty good? We've also had some breaks and, of course, tons of jungle.

Although it would be nicer if more of those things were at nicer venues... i.e. Sven Vath @ KH.

Aaron you're totally right - this year, NOVEMBER especially, showed significant signs of improvement. I'm certainly grateful for that, don't get me wrong.

But even when these guys come, the venue always seems to be . I'm not suggesting trying to fill Kool Haus with Ken Ishii, but the opera house and the place where Liebing et al played do not do these guys justice! We also had Misstress B @ Sound Emporium, where, not only the sound sucked, but the monitors were crap too...Barbara herself said she felt limited with what she could do with her set.

That fukhouse with Beyer, Valentino and Carola was a HUGE success. I had a brilliant time that night. So why is it that an event like that hasn't been repeated? That's the kind of thing I hope for at this new club...or even, just one of those guys on the bill.
