OK...first off...IU'd like to say that Tool is one of my top 3 favorite bands ever. They are simply ing amazing. Tool live...OMG! Maynard is one of the best singers ever and is the most original man. I've heard his scream at the top of his lungs for almost 2 minutes straight. That breathing from Aenema...wow...ok...
now that that is said...I have now lost some(read: a tiny, tiny, tiny fraction) of the respect I had for Maynard. I mean, how ing original is what he said? NOT AT ING ALL.
Am I the only ing person who has realized that no one ing voted for Gore either. It was 50-ing-50. Yeah, we down here in Florida ed it up, but Christ...it OBVIOUSLY wasn't a huge favor for Gore or we wouldn't have had the ing problem. GET THE OVER IT!
Also, would you really have wanted Gore in charge after 9/11?!?!? I WOULDN'T HAVE! We would have been the laughing stock of the world. Attack ing central. At least Bush said he'd go after the Taliban and did...he said he'd lower taxes and did...he said he'd get Sadam and did. HE HAS NOT ING LIED...
For christs sake, I don't claim any political party, nor any country, nor anything else. I hate labels, I'm a ing human. But still...people...why the not support Bush for right now?
BOTTOM ING LINE
Yeah, he may not be the best option, but who the else have we got? ing Gore? ing Leiberman? The democrats who seem more like a hiphop beef battle than a presidential race?
He is doing what he said he would and I'm proud to stand behind SOME of the things he does. Yeah, he's in it for money...GUESS ING WHAT...SO ARE ALL THE OTHER POLITICIANS!! Bush is not ing special in that respect! Give him a ing break!
ok...sorry, rant over. Damn I hate this place.
Why do we have to be Americans? Why can't we just ing be humans?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? |

It really amazes me that the American people are just blindly letting this go on. They are not even considering the possibility that their government could be lying to them. It is absolutely nauseating." |

Everyone bashes Bush because it's the cool thing to do. He's just a damn figure head, why don't people realize this? Blame the whole damn government if you don't like it, Bush is just a tool for the true powers of our country.
He may sound like a retard, but what has he done that is so much worse than our previous presidents? I want to know.

Like that's anything new. When the hell hasn't the government lied to the people? |

Planning for martial law?
Civil libertarians say the Bush administration may give the military scary new police powers in its secret planning for a bunker-based, post-disaster shadow government.

By Dave Lindorff
March 15, 2002 | When the Washington Post revealed the existence of an American "shadow government," operating secretly in Tora Bora-style mountain bunkers over the six months since Sept. 11, it shocked even some congressional leaders, who learned about it March 1 from the Post, not the Bush administration.
Now civil libertarians on the left and right are raising new questions about the shadow government -- about its secrecy, its leadership, and the way it involves the military in domestic roles. In particular, plans to have the military assume domestic police functions in case of national emergency alarm some scholars and advocates, who believe the shadow government could be an early step on the way to martial law.
Obviously there are worst-case scenarios -- massive terrorist attacks, nuclear war -- in which it's the government's duty and responsibility to assure its own continuity, and maintaining order in such circumstances could well demand the domestic use of troops. But critics fear that the present administration might be willing to impose martial law under ambiguous circumstances, citing the fact that the Bush administration has pushed through harsh restrictions on civil liberties like the USA PATRIOT Act, and is already using military personnel to assume police functions.
"It has become clear that the response of this administration since 9/11 has been to try and set up a complete government that is not subject to visibility and accountability, " says Michael Ratner of the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York. "You have a shadow government operating in complete secrecy, and then you have these efforts, like military tribunals and the Patriot Act, to undermine basic constitutional protections."
The left-leaning Ratner has counterparts on the right who worry that this administration has been too quick to sacrifice civil liberties in the name of public safety in the last six months. William J. Olson, a conservative lawyer and onetime Bush supporter who counts among his clients the U.S. Gun Owners Association, says its moves since Sept. 11 make clear that the Bush administration has "decided that it doesn't need to follow constitutional processes."

US Nobel Laureate Slams Bush Gov't as "Worst" in American History
George A. Akerlof, 2001 Nobel prize laureate who teaches economics at the University of California in Berkeley.
BERLIN - American Nobel Prize laureate for Economics George A. Akerlof lashed out at the government of US President George W. Bush, calling it the "worst ever" in American history, the online site of the weekly Der Spiegel magazine reported Tuesday.
"I think this is the worst government the US has ever had in its more than 200 years of history. It has engaged in extradordinarily irresponsible policies not only in foreign policy and economics but also in social and environmental policy," said the 2001 Nobel Prize laureate who teaches economics at the University of California in Berkeley.
"This is not normal government policy. Now is the time for (American) people to engage in civil disobedience. I think it's time to protest - as much as possible," the 61-year-old scholar added.
Akerlof has been recognized for his research that borrows from sociology, psychology, anthropology and other fields to determine economic influences and outcomes.
His areas of expertise include macro-economics, monetary policy and poverty. |
