| What sort of amps? Hi Fi amps? Power amps? Headphone amps? You need to be more specific. What do you want to do with the amp? For bedroom use? For a party? If its for a party or a club, how big is the room and how many people will there be in the room? |

Have a look in your local second-hand electronics store or maybe the local classified ads. You can often pick up a decent amp here for not much money at all, and if it's only for bedroom use you don't need to spend too much money. I bought a Sherwood 45 watt-per-channel hi-fi receiver for a second hand store for £49 (about 75 USD I guess) and have been running it for about four years, and it's been fantastic. You don't need anything louder than that for bedroom practice.
You can also get speakers easily enough from the same place. You are looking at around £30 (45ish USD) for a decent set.
Hope this helps. |

alesis RA100
cheap, small, no fan, runs cool, draws very little power at idle, built like a tank, low distortion factor, decent dampening factor, rack mountable, studio reference quality design.
did i mention they are cheap? hehe
about $100 on eBay. should last a decade or two. |
