Hey guys, Happy New Year! Well my new years was great. I won 600 dollars betting hockey :D I was saving up for monitors but now I don't need too. I was wondering if any of you have Event tr8's and what you think of them for trance production. I heard them at a showroom and I was very impressed but I only heard rock music played through them. I'd like to know how they sound with some trance , music with alot of low end. The only other monitors that impressed me were the Fostex PM1 but they have a 6.5 inch woofer and I don't know if that will be enough considering their frequency range is 50Hz to 20kHz , while the tr8 are a bit better at 38hz to 20khz. Should I g with a 6.5 inch woofer or 8 inch?
Etherium, I noticed you posted on another forum you were selling your event tr8's, any reason why? Anything bad I should know about them? |

Hey. Well , the reason I was going to sell them was because at the time I planned on upgrading to Mackies. But...I decided that I could make much wiser investments so I decided against it.
I would say that the TR8s do what the advertisements say they do-they deliver a flat frequency response. The soundstaging isn't as good as the Mackies but overall the TR8s are definitely a good choice for mixing and mastering Trance, especially for the money.
Look at the latest issue of Sound on Sound, they finally reviewed the TR8s and gave them positive review. I would say they are a good buy and I've seen them on Ebay for a lot cheaper than Guitar Center.
Good luck. Once you have good monitors you will realize how many of your mixes suck....and that's a good thing. |
