Im looking to buy some sample stuff in the next coming months, including Spectrasonics Atmosphere. In the mean time, i'm looking for some really good Trance sample cd's containing either one shot drum samples (i don't use loops) or ambient sound effects. Anybody have any they can recommend? |

hey State, check out http://www.bestservice.de/ you may wanna click on the british flag at the top of the page so you can see the website in english. click under "drums and loops" and you'll find the best stuff around. also most of the cds have 2 minute demos so you can get an idea of what the samples sound like. Personally i use Techno Trance Essentials. It has nice one shot drum samples. Also Dance mega drums series has a huge selection of single shot drum samples. hope that helps |

I would check out the Ilio line of sample CDs. |

Have a browse around Time+Space as they sell CDs by many different companies (including BestService and Ilio I think).
Personally, I have bought Dance Mega Drums 2 for single shots, and Seismic Frequencies for ambient bits and pieces. There's so many CDs around though, really you should seek out a music shop that will let you have a listen / play with them - IMO the 2 min demos of a CD aren't particularly helpful. |

Thanks for the help guys. Yeah, I know about best service, east west, zero g, ilio, and the like, but I was more after names of specific CD's. Ill definitely look at Dance Mega Drums 2 and Seismic Frequencies. I don't really have a decent music shop around me so the mp3 demo will have to do. |

Hey State, I see you're frequenting these boards more than Samplecity nowadays :D
Anyway, I've just got a copy of Ueberschall - Techno Trance Essentials and it's
got a fairly large collection of single shot drum hits (and loops if you wanna take em apart in recycle!)
It's got loads of other stuff aswell basses, synths, pads & fx.

Hey. Yeah I stopped going to SampleCity. I looked at Uberschall's cd but it looked a little to varied to me. Im looking for very specific sounds. Seismic Frequencies sounds amazing though, Im going to order that right away.

Listen to the first wav sample (birdscape.wav). Remind you of the beginning of any recent tracks ;) A quarter for anybody who can identify it.
EDIT: BTW, im looking at Dance Mega Drums 2, and it sounds very nice, exactly what Im looking for, but its not available in WAV format. How would you use Audio format? Would you simply open the audio tracks in Wavelab and convert to wav? |

Hey SOM. If you've got Wavelab 4.0, goto Tools->Import Audio CD tracks (or press Ctrl+I if you're real lazy!)
If it's akai format, I think there is an app somewhere to convert akai->wav formats. In the past I've
just used Halion cos it does a good job and can convert a whole CD (sticks the samples in directories aswell)
Good luck!
PS: Which track do you reckon 'Birdscape' sounds like then? I don't recognise it - sounds a bit 'BT' actually :D |

Thanks for that, i'll try it. I actually just realized I had downloaded half of the bassdrums on DMD2 from Samplecity, so Im not so interested in buying it anymore (as most of the drums aren't useful to me, a lot of gabber, hardstyle, and goa kicks).
It's so hard to find a real nice, solid kick :)
But I will definitely be buying Seismic Frequencies, sounds like just what I need.
And the track is AvB's remix of ATRC. |

Hey State, I would suggest Yellow Tools "Culture". It has the best quality perc samples probably ever. Most are ethnic sounds, but they can work in Trance as well, plus, you can mold the sounds with the filter. Go to Yellow Tools website and dl the demo. It's amazing. |
