Do you guys have any friends that don't like trance?
And thinks that you're wierd?? Man,that's annoying!!!
I have one friend. He claims that everything sounds identic, but that stupid bastard gets bored in allready a few seconds of a song, where there is nothing but the pure bassdrum,in the most tunes.Sometimes I laugh at him, man, what commercial he actuaally is listening to.That proves one thing:HE HAS NO MUSIC TASTE !
Person listens to commercial = Has no music taste or sense for music
Does anybody agree with that? |

I am one of the few off my class who listens to trance, except one guy, he listens to it, if you would ask who is dj Tiësto, they would have no clue.
But that doesn't bother, I will never top listening to TRANCE!!!!!!!

| well at my job nobody likes trance. They think its all repetetive, and rap aint repetetive? yeah righ..all rap does is someone talking on the foreground with some annyoing repetetive beat in background. I am glad i am the only one listening to trance. Makes me an outsider. I dont want trance to go commercial and just overplay it like Nsync and B. Spears. |

I don't think its fair to say that just cause someone likes commercial stuff that it means they have NO music taste. People say that about us and we love trance. I have probably heard that 'techno is ' just as many times as I have heard commercial stuff is crap. We all have different musical tastes - I think that the best thing to do is realize ALL music has it's good parts and bad parts and everyone should be open minded. That said, you can personally not like some types, but you can't tell others what to like or not like. It's all about respect.
My friends do listen to some crap tho......peace. |

| I don't neccessarily blame him (It depends what his full explanation is) ... One of my friends likes GOA at parties but hates to listen to it outside of them... he can't stand in any way Melodic stuff because he, like myself is a musician... he feels that melodic trance is like pop in many ways... that is the melodies are easy as hell to compose ... any musician knows that if you play anything out of the major scale it'll sound happy and will work (I garantee it) ... also a lot of trance tracks follow the 1, 4, 5 progression (ie. listen to blues you'll hear the chord changes) .. he just feels that there is very little musicianship in creating melodic trance... I despite being a nutty trance junkie largely agree with him... I think there are a hell of a lot of bad trance tracks with absolutely no musicality to them.... there is none of the experimentalism which drove the creation of the music... that said ... there are some absolutely beautifully crafted tunes... being a composer find it extremely difficult to create something uplifting which isn't extremely cheezey... |

NONE of my close friends like trance!! it's only annoying when I beg them to go to a decent club with me ;)
other than that, it's cool we have different taste cuz if my friends liked the stuff I'd make us listen and talk about it 24/7...

My friends are clearly categorized into two main classes; those who go clubbing/raves & like trance and those who don't. Simple, eh? Basically I just do different things with different people. I understand that some of my friends don't like/understand trance the way I do, but they are entitled to their opinion as long as they don't get too annoying. For instance, I can't stand most british rock bands (sorry folks) due to number of reasons, but still I don't disrespect/flame people who like them.
I feel like I'm repeating myself here so the point is that like whatever you like and respect the fact that not everyone has equal taste. Actually one of my very close friends (who is a rocklady/teddy girl) got pretty excited about some of the trance tracks I played for her. She even came to couple of club events and she said she liked it. Cool, thumbs up. In return, I listened to some rock tunes she recommended (heh heh).
Trance gives me good vibes and energy... and I love it! If you get your kicks listening to death metal, so be it. :D

My friends use to be the same...but slower they're coming to realize how wicked trance is. My rule is that when i drive in my car...only my live sets can be heard.. they actually like it now so it's all good. I also sometimes go to my friends house and download music on their computers...eventually they'll listen to it at home :)..
what's really awesome is that my friend just yesterday asked me to make a cd for him... it just happened by the time i was done (after the list of songs were chosen by him).. 7 or the 13 were trance... hahaha IT's working :)
...and they're all going to PVD on the 10th....
BOOha ha ha ha :).. |

Some of you seem surprised that heavy/death/speed Metal-fans enjoy trance, but in fact the two genres have a lot in common, and if you look at hard-trance and techno the similarities become obvious: fast steady rhythms, "ugly"-sounds interleaved with harmonic sounds, aggressive bass-lines and lastly the "individual/swing your hands in the air"-dance of a rave bears some resemblance to the "shake your head/make satanic gestures with your fist and two fingers"-moves of a heavy metal concert.
In fact those of my friends who have commited to liking trance/techno-trax all have a background in Metallica etc.-kind of music, whereas those of my friends who are into pop/rock can't stand it (eventhough they respect the music for being "honest" in its origin, as opposed to e.g. Britney Spears).
I think that the point where electronica stands head and shoulders above heavy metal, though, is that we are not restricted to two guitars, one bass-player and the limitations of a human drummer and the size of his drum-setup. Finally we don't have to listen to to someone who parts snarls, part sings and part tries to fit the mike in his mouth :) |

| I have noticed this too metal heads also seem attracted by the 'epicness' that a trance track can have. There are some pretty drawn out ballads in that type of music. peace. |

here are the categoriez I've made up of the people around me...
1.) Close Minded Bigot -- you know the type I am referring to
2.) Simple Minded fool -- can't take an onslaught of harmoniez rushing at him/her
3.) Dumb Ass Listener -- people who listen to it when they are in clubz/eventz, but don't know jack about it.
4.) Eccentric Fanatic -- person who thinkz he/she knowz it all there is to know about it.
5.) Wash-Rinse-Repeat -- type who keepz on playing the same over and over and over...until they get rinsed out to dry!
if you guyz wanna add anything to else to this...be my guest

lol @ wash rinse repeat!! I myself think that commercial gives REAL trance a bad name, u get all these so-called trance artists that only do it for the money and the fame... the true blue trance artists see the money as a bonus for doing something they love.
Some of my mates like trance some dont, but to be honest with u they never criticise me for it and me likewise with them. If pplz have different musical tastes thats cool so long as they dont force it on me!
If its one thing i hate though its someone sayin trance is crap, when they havent even listened to the ... |
