Slipmats

I was looking into getting new slipmats, as the ones that came with my decks are pretty shoddy. I got the decks off Ebay, seperate, so each slipmat is differant and has a differant amount of slickness - really annoying.
Anyways, I'm wondering if a slipmat is a slipmat or if something like this (link) is better/worse. Or maybe those "Butter rugs" ? |

Hey M8!
"Butter Rugs" slipmats are designed more for a turntablelist/scratch dj, for a regular blending/mixing dj, standard slipmats will do just fine(not the OEM slipmats though, the only acceptable ones would be the ones that come with Technics) So any of the ones we carry, other than Butter Rugs, will work just fine for you, just a matter of your design/picture preference from slipmats that we carry.
Butter Rugs aren't that good for mixing DJs, because they are too slick and don't grip the record at all, so you'd have no resistance on the record while you're cueing it up nor while you try to correct(speed up or slow down) the record while in the mix already.
Personally, I bought these:
because they shine quite nicely in the blacklight surroundings or if charged up by the light, they actually glow in the dark, other than that, they are just like any other standard slipmats.
Cheers... |
