Ya I'm so glad they posted the whole article online, and that NOTHING was cut out of context to make some hippie point:rolleyes:
they cut and edit the article to make their point, an expanded transcript is posted on their own website:
http://www.informationclearinghouse...article5369.htm
but I would be dobious to believe even this is the full transcript and not cut, or edited, as they prove they do such things on the page your posted.
Oh wait they even admit as much:
"THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED." -meaning don't believe a word.
come on you'll have to do better then that
:p |

I simply ignored that article since it clearly demonstrated its position in the title. |

anyway i cant see the video but as i was reading the transcript... "I mean, afterwards you're like, hell, yeah, that was awesome. Let's do it again." BANG! I remembered this video. IIRC I saw it on Democracy Now!. even if it is out context, how can killing someone be awsome and want to do it again?!? :nervous: |

To quote Winston Churchill, "there is nothing quite so exhilarating as being shot at and missed".
Not that I agree with or support what those marines said, but I'm sure there is an adrenaline rush that goes hand-in-hand with killing an enemy combatant. We have no idea what goes through their heads--they're living in a different world than the rest of us when they're in combat--it's hard to really put yourself in their shoes. |

lets turn the tables for a second and apply your logic towards an iraqi who shoots an american. So, what your response would be? I'm pretty sure you wouldnt apply the same logic. you would be raising hell, calling the act 'barbaraic' etc. etc.
In conclusion, we should never try to rationalize something just because it doesnt fit our idealogy. Taking a life of another human being in such vicious way is despicable. Whether its Iraqi's or American's life. |

anyone else heard or read about this:
UK Troops Beat Iraqi Detainee to Death
Meanwhile the London Independent is reporting that British forces beat to death an Iraqi man in custody in September. An Iraqi detainee who witnessed the death said the man was tied and hooded and then repeatedly kicked and assaulted.
It's from todays Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman. need another source. |

Don't attempt to put words in my mouth. What's this "In conclusion" ? Are you giving an oral testimony on rationalizing?
War itself is barbaric, so I will even say that the marines killing the Iraqi was in and of itself "barbaric". I would also say that from an Iraqi standpoint the statment I made above holds equally true. I didn't try to take sides, I merely tried to put the marine commentary in perspective. There was no rationalization in what I said. |

do you know what's going on in Palestinians or al quaidas heads? yet you criticize them for their behavior. it is all about understandning, you just have to learn to understand everyone :) |

No, I don't, and I don't presume to. Hell, if I could understand what was going on in their heads I'd probably have a solution to the world peace issue. I just gave a Winston Churchill quote and tried to explain the thought process involved. I could care less if that was a manatee being shot by some sea lions--my comments were meant to be objective. Survival instincts are scientifically proven to cause an adrenaline rush--what kind of animal is involved is irrelevant. |
