i have this software i want to use on my computer, which has W2K. the manual for the software says i can install it on 95,98, or NT. (it's old) so will it have any problems if i put on my computer with 2000?
whiskers
try it out ;)

shouldn't have any major problems, although some glitches might be possible.

what kind of software is it? i'm using a word processing application on win2k which was designed for win98 and it's fine.

stuff like norton antivirus won't work...

is ur laptop on a network or anything? got a usb memory stick?

shouldn't be too hard to transfer a few files across..

tell me more about this oxygen sensor thinghy??

hm, oxygen sensor software could be a LITTLE problematic

i'm not really an expert in this, but if the sensor uses USB interface or something like that, i can see how there could be problems because win98 and win2k differ in their base code and their interfaces might be so different, the sensor might make your system completely lock up because of the way the software handles connection protocols.

but do try it, there's no harm in it. you never know how a software will behave until you test it out - if it works, great, if it locks up - well, just reboot. but you'll know if it works or not.

well win2k is NT based so there should be no troubles. I haven't heard of too many problems between old NT software and win2k.

so I think it'll work.

i probably could do it that way, but i gave the sensor to the calibration guy so i am not going to bother with it right now. the computer guy said he can get me a floppy drive. i should have had one to begin with...

If it doesn't work, you could also try running it in NT4 compatibility mode.
