| not quite production related..help appreciated..If I buy something in a private sale from an ec country e.g Germany, do I get hit with extra costs when it arrives? VAT ect? finding it difficult to get an answer, quite suprising in our global times.. |

You will have to pay tax as it is a purchase.
It isn't always the full 17.5%, if in doubt talk to HM Customs and Excise... http://www.hmce.gov.uk/
If you know someone in the country you are buying it from then get them to buy it and post it to you as a present, that avoids you having to pay tax.
You could also do thi on a private sale... just get the seller to wrap it in nice birthday paper for you and state it is a pressie!!! |
