i was playing in front of 3000 people and had a record run out on me. I had played the wrong side to begin with, but tried to "go with it", although i didn't notice that the track only ran 1/2 way through the rekkid, it was too funny.. i noticed it and slammed in the other track.. in retrospect, it didn't sound as bad as it could have *laff* i was lucky, no one boo'ed *lol*
many many times we've all had people/groupies/whomever bump into the table/booth and skip a rekkid, it happens :) just keep yer cool and do yer best to fix, even if you have to slam the FLANGE button and mix out in a hurry (although most times you can fix the error)

a) got too excited by my own mix, dancing behind the decks, and bumping them, sending the needle flying out of the groove (yea, i was drunk!)
b) shirt sleeve grabbing the needle
c) forgetting the crossfader is in off mode (a&h xone feature) and trying to fade on the crossfader rather than the levels
d) tweeked an eq too quick/hard and the knob came off still in my fingers (yes, it was a cheesy mixer) |

Nevertheless, some people cheered thinking I was doing it on purpose so that kind of made it a bit better. |
That happened to me when I knocked the power switch on the Technics by mistake once. Get out of jail free cards rock! :stongue: |

worst ever happened was picking up the wrong needle when being drunk :) , lucky most of the crowd was too so they had a good laugh.
Its also annoying when the power goes down.. nothing you can change about it but there you are standing in from of the crowd.. just hoping it is fixed soon |

I turned of the wrong cd-player at my first gig ever...I started the set with two massive tunes so the crowd went litteraly nuts and danced like maniacs...then it came, my big misstake...I take out the CD as regular not noticing it was the wrong CD so it all went quite...I was like wtf happened, scratched my head for a few seconds and then understod what I had done :p
luckily the crowd was very forgiving so they just cheered and gave me applause for that up :p |

Judge Jules had 3 MAJOR ups during his visit here to Calgary..
The moniters went down, CDJ-1000 was ed, and i can't remember if it was one of the turntables or the mixer that were ing up too.. but ya.. All at the same time, ALL at the beginning of his mix..
So he just drank and took pics with people out behind the booth till it was fixed... |

happens... heh
the worst has probably happened to me...
a black out just the time I was playing ;) everything was ed up, sound & light. The party stopped, and the day after I learned that there was a damage of $1000... amps were burned :(
that would be a hell of a party, I was playing before luis paris...
ah yes, here is another one... there was a small monitor wounded just at the ceiling above dj's head, I tried to turn it a little, and that fell on my head... lol... but that was before the party, so nobody mention it ;) |

OUCH!
Actually there is one worse thing than any of the things that have been mentioned in this thread but did rear it's ugly head in another...
Getting booked for the wrong type of night. :nervous: Especially if the warm up guys are hammering out complete industrial mayhem and then you have to come on with your fine uplifting and in comparrison slow music. It's the DJ equivalent of waking up naked in the middle of the Superbowl on the field naked... All eyes are on you and everything you do just seems to be wrong.
It's character building... but not fun.
Cheers
