| i read an interview of mijk van dijk(techno dj,producer and trance dj,producer later) in greek dance magazine freeze were he said :<>.what do you say about that?and i have heard many times no good things about trance music. |

Funny though that this comes from a guy who was signed to the same label as Paul van Dyk and was involved in a project like Marmion. |

I understand what he means.
Trance changed a lot. Listen to Schoenenberg and listen to the trance played these days. It's become something completely different. Instead of labelling him as a techno-hater, people should listen to what he says. Not that I wholeheartedly agree with him (I don't), but I admit he does have a point. I miss old trance :( |

Aye, he does have a point. Trance is far from as good as it was thanks to commercialism, but that's not any different than with any other genre, so why single out trance? |

I guess everything which has been underground will emerge, this happend to some extend when it comes to trance. Nobody exept those who make profits of making these cheezy commercial tunes are to blame, and the way he genralizes the problem really just shows that he should do a bit more research. I think this is a small problem when one looks at all the quality music which is still made.
But I also agree to a certain extent, the commercialized trance is stupid music, simple music by and for simple minds. :) :) |

I doubt MvD or anyone else in the techno scene would say that Tiesto @ Energy 2000 is any less "stupid" than trance nowadays.
In addition, "most of trance is enormously lame nowadays" is probably as far from an objective statement as you can get. |

no, u are wrong. that one is a direct quote from the bible; therefore it must be taken as an incontrovertible fact.
seriously though, of course that post is subjective. just like 99.9% of other posts on this board. and it was never meant to be considered otherwise. it's not like i'm trying to thrust my opinion on anyone, ffs. |
