That's not the one that made him famous, that's the one that made him look like a retard on crack.
If anything made him famous, it's "Silence".

This is very wrong. They became famous exclusively with the help of "Space Brothers - Shine".

Actually I would say "The Gift" was their most popular song. |
Yes, but "Ajare" answers to the specific purpose of this thread, and as far as I know it's from 1994, while "The Gift" isn't that old.

Yeah...no. "Netherworld" was older as far as I can remember, and famous enough.

You're forgetting the Ralphie B, Freejack and Alpha Breed aliases. Ralph Barendse became famous with "Freejack - No Promises" and essentially the birth of legendary (IMO) Alpha Breed.

You should have credit for being funny.
Seriously, you don't think that "Offshore" became famous enough?!

No. Really, no.
What about "Reflections" & "Touched" from 2001? On the other hand, Lange was popular before he did Firewall.

What about Read My Lips and Heulender Wulf released on the same EP on the Le Petit Prince label in 1995?
Heulender Wulf is an acid trance classic! :) |

I just have to put my two cheap cents into this one hehe.
Oakenfold was a big name way before Bullet in the Gun. He did remixes for big name rock bands throughout the whole 90's. In 1989 he did a remix of Happy Monday's Mad Chester. Other stuff he put his name on was New Order - True Faith '94 remixes, Shamen - Move Any Mountain (1991), Massive Attack - Unfinnished Sympathy, U2 - Even Better Than The Real Thing, U2 - Lemon. Other artists he made remixes for was D:Ream, M People, Neneh Cherry, INXS and yes, even Snoop Doggy Dog...
Hes "super stardom" didn't start at the end of the 90's. Rather it was in the beginning IMHO... :) |

Wasn't "Bullet In The Gun" partially produced by Ian Masterson?
Also, Oakenfold's fame came with DJing, not any specific productions.

This is what I think as well. |

True, it's really as a DJ he became famous. I think he was spinning at the legendary Hacienda in Manchester at the end of the 80's. At the peak of the Acid House revolution.
Anyways, regarding his productions, I think you will find "co-producers" to all Oakeys stuff. Cynically, he seems to be a so called "Yes, No"-guy. |

Not everyone is mr.trance God, it doesn't make them n00bs it just means not everyone on God's green earth has access to a hi-speed connection/goes to clubs 24/7 or knows everything there is to know about trance. No 1 person knows everything. |
