Does this have something to do with being able to use active mode in a certain program??? :)
Anyway, I don't think you're actually behind a firewall. Your router acts as a proxy which has the same the effects for that certain program. |

You need to login to the router and you can setup all the ports or just open it up completely.
http://192.168.1.1 is usually the router
address by default.
Linksys I believe defaults to
username: admin
password: (empty)
or maybe its administrator
Best thing to do is find out which IP your computer is being assigned (probably 192.168.1.2) and open up port range like 8000-10000 for apps to use. |

| okay, but when i go into the router options, i cant find anything that would let me change the port. where do i put that number? 'and open up port range like 8000-10000 for apps to use' thanks for the info though. |

Are you using DHCP? |

^^^^^^ what he said.
when you log into your router, under advanced tools, you will see a option called DMZ .. put in the ip address that your computer is and hit enable.. your computer will "bypass" the firewall settings..
