some more help from you TA's would be nice: im looking for artists similar to sin, smoke city, SWAYZAK !!!, kid loco, amon tobin... the dubby, downtempo from artists with very distinctive styles.. why does it seem all the good downtempo comes from France ??? :tongue2

I've got Another Late Night from Fila Brazilia and Back To Mine from The Orb, both excellent CDs which have gotten a considerable amount of rotation in my cd player. Check out Kid Loco's DJ Kicks-album for another smoked out downtempo experience, I think I lost count of how many times I've played that one.

DJ Kicks is a mix cd series from !K7 (http://www.studio-k7.com/), a quite good label with countless excellent releases on their discog. People like Kruder & Dorfmeister, Thievery Corporation, Trüby Trio, Carl Craig, Nightmares On Wax and Smith & Mighty have already done a DJ Kicks album. I storngly recommend you track down as many as you can, they are all excellent provided that you have an open mind towards music. Tracklist for Kid Loco's album, which IMO is is among the best of the series:

Kid Loco - Don't You Know I'm Loco (Intro)
The Bill Wells Octet aka Future Pilot - Om Namah Shivaya
Jason Swinscoe pres. The Cinematic Orchestra - Continuum
Emperors New Clothes - Dark Light (Underdog Mix)
The Ted Howler Rhythm Combo - Mr. Flakey
DJ Vadim - Theme From Conquest Of The Irrational (Remix By The Prunes)
Jazzanova - Introspection
Common Ground - Dark Soul
Underworld - Blueski
Grantby - Grimble
Deep Season - Jesus Christ Almighty (Dunderhead + Pylon King Remix)
Boards Of Canada - Happy Cycling
Pelding - One
Tom Tyler - Attitude Adjuster
Tongue - Culture Consumers
Lisa Germano - Lovesick (Underdog Remix)
Stereotyp - Slo Jo
Kid Loco - Flyin' On 747

It's pretty varied, has a lot of instrumental hiphop (DJ Vadim) as well as quirky electronica (Boards Of Canada), smooth downtempo (Jazzanova) and dark, menacing atmospheres towards the end (Stereotyp, Lisa Germano). The Kid's own track at the very end is also very good, probably my fav track on the compilation overall.

Dave Seaman's Back to Mine is legendary.

the back to mine by dave seaman has to be one of the most played cd's in my collection. I can't think of another cd which holds so many dreamy chilledout tracks - don't believe me - just take a listen!
