Vinyl Skipping Question
View this Thread in Original format

If a recently-purchased vinyl with no visible signs of scratches/damage continually skips, is there any way to remedy the problem apart from taking it up with the record label?

(backstory info: my brother bought King Unique's "Sugar High" a while back and the record skipped so he returned it and got another one that also wound up skipping at the exact same point -- there's no problems with the decks btw)

any thoughts are appreciated

It will be a pressing fault if it's in the same place. Happened to my Mauro Picotto Awesome EP. Just return it again if u can and wait for a new batch to come in.

sometimes when a track is pressed they do a really bad job - sometimes i buy a track and that happens - if you know that it only happens on one of your tunes then just increase the weight on the tone arm before you play it - sometimes all it needs is a little more downward force to prevent it from skipping - remember to return it to balanced after you finish with it though.

hope that works - if not throw the vinyl out and check any future releases from that label before you give them your hard earned money
