| i have nothing against you and don't worry about people saying stuff about a lack of contribution. i don't see why every member is obligated to make any contribution. this is just a music forum, where people can communicate with others. if someone wants to give more to the community, then so be it. we shouldn't criticize the individuals that are giving less than the next guy because they don't have to. everyone just take it easy ok? |

Renegade: A very thoughtful and intelligent post, that I agree with. However, in the case of the people attacking Paul Wilson in that other thread, you should know that Paul had previously been told to relax by Swamper, and that when a lot of people post disapproving comments on the cop-behaviour a very clear message is sent, not only to Paul, but also to others that are having problems chilling.
btw. I have no problems with neither DJ Martijn, Paul Wilson or anyone else on the board. It takes some pretty low shooting to get to me... |

Yeah I agree, Paul was in the wrong for doing what he did, and I said as much in my post. But if he (or anyone else for that matter) is being perceived as having done something wrong, then it's for Swamper or the mods to sort out, it shouldn't be the signal for everyone to jump in with their opinions and personal judgements. If everyone keeps on jumping in capriciously with antagonistic comments, like they do at the moment, an argument is likely to start up and the thing just snowballs.
Having said that, I do agree that people have a right to say what they think, and if they have any issues to take up with Paul then they should be free to do so privately. But I personally don't see the point in posting intentionally antagonistic messages in any thread, particularly when they are directed at a specific individual. That isn't likely to solve the problem at hand, it's more likely to incite the said individual to retaliate. This is not a good thing for the forum, because - as I said before - these things have the potential to snowball. It happened briefly on the HoM forum when the airing of quiet qualms with regards to the direction of the site degenerated into personal attacks and unnecessary conflict. I'm just trying to make sure that it doesn't happen here, where the damage may be more permenant. :) |

The reason why I posted that thread was because I had visitors at my house. It was my cousin, his girlfriend with their 6 year old son. While they were here I was browsing this site and I happened to open a thread with a Palivar sound file in it and it said "Yippie Kay Aye Mother******". It was extremely embaressing, and this was in front of a 6 year old child. I was extremely pissed off and just posted that thread in a rage.
Also, I was appalled by the jokes Palivar made about disable people. He used the word "spastic" which is a very offensive and ignorant word. I had a friend who had a brother with something wrong with his leg and ignorant fools called him a "spastic". I have other reasons for being offended by this, but I am not going to put any up here. If you want to know anymore PM me. I see what he said as just as bad as racism.
Also, I do not appreciate getting told to "calm down", especially by somebody younger then myself. To whoever does this: You don't know me, you can't tell my mood from from text I put up on a screen. I am 20 years old, I'm not a kid anymore so it isn't right to say this to me.
I know there are some people who have a problem with me, but I'm pretty sure at least 70% don't. |
