Lately I've really gotten into the hard dance/trance stuff but I've just returned from 3 weeks in Goa and I have to say that it was unreal. I had heard the parties were legendary but I wasn't prepared for it at all.

The best party we went to was on X-Mas Eve.

Here's the DJ lineup. Yes, that's right, it spans 36 HOURS (!!!) of non-stop wicked music.

We got there at 22:30 on X-Mas Eve and left at 14:00 on X-Mas Day to go back to the beach and get some rest. Here are links to 2 videos that I took on X-Mas morning. Sorry for the large downloads (47 and 25 Megs) but I don't have the software to convert them.

If anybody can ID the first track (MVI_0761.AVI) it would be greatly appreciated as it's one of my favorite ones at the moment and I have no idea who it's by.

Hope everyone is having a good 2004 so far.

Cheers,
Sylvain

that song sounds a lot like a 1200 micrograms/alien project production, from the synths they used.

I think it's the first track off 1200 mics - heroes of imagination, but I'm not sure

Hey !!!

Sorry for taking so long to reply. You were indeed right. the song is "Renaissence Superman" by 1200 Mics and it's the first song on "Heroes of Imagination".

I was finally able to track it down this week and I have to say that I LOVE this song. I wish I had a picture of my face when this song came on at the party in Goa before X-Mas as I freaked and hit the dancefloor screaming ;)

Thanks again :)

I'm just curious to see if many TA's are PsyTrance fans. Started off with cheesy trance myself, then moved into uplifting trance, then into prog and other house genres. I've slowly been expanding my tastes and exposure further. In particular, PsyTrance has grown on me over the last year or so to the point that I could call it possibly my favourite genre at this point. I love the complexity, much less predictable than many other genres and so much variety within it. Not to mention that PsyTrance events are by far cooler events, much less influenced by the commercialization of he scene. For instance, the BLA party (blacklightactivists.ca) I went to for NYE was the most friendly vibe I've seen at any party in a long time.

So, I'm wondering if many others are into Psy out there?

I love psy :-). It's just as great as all the other genres of trance. Vancouver is really big on psy and goa trance. I'm not sure how much psy and goa there is in TO though. Very little I can imagine.

Doesn't surprise me that Psy is big in Vancouver. I wonder if it's because of the asian influence. I spent some time in thailand\japan last spring and couldn't believe how big Psy was. In fact, most of the electronica I came by was house or Psy.

Dude... try going to some events! For psytrance in this city there is a weekly night on Thursdays, a bi-weekly night on Friday, a monthly on the 2nd Saturday of every month, plus plenty to be found at the monthly Darkrave and assorted other events. And this is without mentioning the one-offs and concert-style events!

All psychedelic events in this town get listed over at ekto if you're curious.
