It so happens that many ppl find that type of language offensive, Swamper has even filtered out one such word cos his GF finds it offensive, so before u all go off the deep end and complain about the use of the word Spastic, think about how many times u have all used the F and C words . . .
Personally i find the C word extremly offensive and in bad taste.
But do i complain or ask for u all to be thrown in to jail for using words like that ? ? ?
Just think b4 u post is my advice . . .
(btw i am not condoning Palivar's use of the word spastic, just saying that u need to bring it into context with the amount of swearing and otehr abusive language used on these forums)

Making fun of disabled people to me is just as bad as racism, they can't help the problems they have, neither can anyone help their race so it is not right to make fun of them. I have good reason for being offended by the word "Spastic" but I'm not writing anything about my family here.
And this is not all he's done. He's been told off about posting sound files again and again yet he's still doing it. In one of the other threads which he posted in, my computer froze. This guy is a complete waste of time, plus a very ignorant idiot. |

| whats the point of this thread? i have said many many times already. leave this kind of stuff to the admins and moderators. if something is wrong someone like tu face or swamper will handle it. |

OK. I can't shut up about this anymore. The word "spastic" is, at least in Denmark - and according to my dictionary, a medical term used to diagnose people with a muscular diorder that causes them to spasm. So when somebody uses that word it is not automatically an offense to diabled people.
I agree that Palivar's use of it AND the picture was on the strong side - just like jokes about AIDS, nazism and other sensitive subjects are - but if you don't find this kind of humour amusing just let it go. After all Paul I remember you wishing all gay people should go to jail in that old "king of the world"-thread, so you shouldn't be the one pointing fingers at people for racism and other kinds of xenophobias. |

| HAHA I cant believe how much this argument over the word spastic has gotten out of hand. Growing up I have always used the word for someone who spazzes out meaning they flip over some stupid thing. That is what half of the people do in these forums and you all need to let it go. Do a search for the word spastic in the forums and you will find that a couple other TAs have used this word. Are we flaming them for it? No. LET IT GO. Geez we are such bitches. I thought trance was all about love and peace. The vibe in these forums sure doesnt reflect it. |

Listen, here in Scotland there used to be a charity called "The Scottish Council For Spastics". 6 or so years ago it's name was changed (I can't remember what it was changed to) because the word "spastic" nowadays is only used as an insult. |

Okay, I can see Palivar did not mean to offend anybody in that thread. But I find the word in which he used very offensive, maybe in whatever country he is from it's still used as it's proper meaning, but I find this word extremely offensive.

thats why i think you should just be a little more lenient about it. i mean if you are gonna stress about every single detail, where are you gonna have time to have fun? just take it easy, sit back and enjoy what this forum has to offer. if things really get WAY out of hand, you know the mods will handle it. if not just PM swamper.
