Hi there
I'm looking for a pair of 1210 M5G's and was wondering where I can find the cheapest ones? As I've discovered they are cheaper in the States than anywhere else. At www.pssl.com they cost $700. That's less than what you have to pay for an MK2 here in Sweden.
I've seen M5G's in germany, but they are around €700, which is almost $900.
So basically, I'm looking for an online store in the States with cheap ass products and cheap shipping. (Shipping overseas is required as well).

Are you talking in canadian dollars or US dollars??
I bought my M5Gs from the states at a decent price...
$549 US each.... it converted to around $900 or so, and then I got charged by UPS and Canada Customs for the import fees.. about $110.
I ended up paying way too much.
If you have relatives in the states... send the 1210s to them and have them re-package it and send it as a "gift" with no value, and customs will look at it, but not charge you.... and at all costs... avoid UPS.
Had I bought them here, I found out I would have paid maybe $50 less per deck, and I didn't have time or resources to go that way.
IN SHORT>>>>>>> .... you're gonna have to give away at least $850 per M5G no matter where you buy it from. |

well, it depends...if you're lucky you don't have to pay taxes...sometimes the goods pass through the customs "unnoticeable"... in either case, I would benfit on ordering from the US. |

| Just emailed PSSL.com for a price on the MK5G as I'm in the market for one too, and so much for their september price of $528, they want $598 for one! that! |

I actually got a price cheaper somewhere else, can't remember where. Then they beat the price by 10%.
It was a royal pain in the ass though. I would have rather paid more for them and got them somewhere else, the sales and customer service was a joke at pssl. Not the same company i bought from in '89.

DJ_Laszlo,
Don't expect to order that 1210 from the USA and then use it in your home country! You see, most of Europe runs at 220 volts/50Hz, while the USA runs at 120 volts/60Hz. And most USA-market turntables are made only for 120-volt/60Hz circuits (USA/Canada circuits only). Without an EXPENSIVE converter/transformer, you'll definitely fry the USA-market turntable!
Thus, in the end, you'll pay about the same amount of $$$ by ordering your turntable from the USA as you would buying locally over where you're at, accounting for the extra $$$ that you'll pay for a voltage converter/transformer and the correct plug adapter. (There are cheaper voltage converters available - but they're not meant for audio or hi-fi use!) |
